"Until this incident, I would have highly recommended this hotel. In fact, a couple of days before everything happened, I completed the hotel's guest satisfaction survey and left a positive review because the front desk staff had been consistently friendly, welcoming, and professional throughout my stay. I want to be clear that this review is not a reflection of the reception staff. They were exceptional. My concern is with housekeeping and, more importantly, how hotel leadership handled a serious security incident. What makes this even more concerning is that housekeeping had not been servicing my room when requested. On Friday and Saturday, I removed my Do Not Disturb sign expecting routine housekeeping, but no one came. On Sunday morning, I called the front desk to request service, including clean bedding, towels, and toiletries. When the housekeeper finally arrived later that day, she asked what I needed, brought me clean sheets, and then asked if I wanted to make the bed myself. She also brought me tissues instead of toilet paper before explaining they had run out and I was getting her last roll. Even after entering my room, the trash liners were never replaced. The morning of July 14, I took my own trash outside because it had been left outside my room the previous day and had still not been collected by housekeeping. Given the lack of service when my Do Not Disturb sign was not displayed, I was shocked to return from work that afternoon and discover someone had entered my room while my Do Not Disturb sign was on the door. When I entered my room around 5:30 p.m., I immediately noticed the Do Not Disturb sign on my door had been changed. Inside, the bathroom door—which I had left open—was closed, both televisions had been pulled away from the walls, one of my baseball caps had been moved, and there were still no signs that the room had actually been cleaned, including no replacement trash bags in the wastebaskets. When I checked the closet, I discovered that a shirt I had laid out two days earlier on top of a pair of pants was missing. While searching my luggage, I found my original Do Not Disturb sign inside my suitcase. The manager responded with the assigned housekeeper, who could not explain why she entered my room despite the Do Not Disturb sign, why my belongings had been disturbed, or why my shirt was missing. She denied taking it but offered to pay for it. The interaction became argumentative, and the manager ultimately dismissed the employee and stated she would be terminated. While I appreciate that action was taken against the employee, it did nothing to address the impact on me as the guest. My privacy had been violated, my property was missing, and I no longer felt safe staying at the hotel. I checked out immediately, filed a police report with the Corbin Police Department, and had to pay for another hotel for the night. What disappointed me most was the hotel's response.
