마룰리보 호텔(Marulivo Hotel)

Lea & Massimo were proud owners and engaging hosts at this lovely hotel that overlooks the Mediterranean. The hotel, a one time monastery according to Massimo was absolutely charming. The coast here, in the Cilento region, was a lovely and quiet respite between our visit to Puglia and our next stop - Naples.

After a short walk from the main piazza further up the hill, you enter this amazing hotel through a small door in a courtyard filled with plants and flowers. The welcome is warm with Massimo and Lea being fantastic hosts. Nothing is too much trouble for them with great recommendations for restaurants and activities to do. Our beautifully decorated room was spacious and comfortable with excellent bathroom. Breakfast (as well as coffees and aperitivi) is served on their terrace with amazing views over the Tyrrhenian Sea, serving a wide selection of local treats, catering for all. The atmosphere is relaxing, hospitable, friendly.

What can I say? The nicest, most engaging delightfully traditional little hotel just a few minutes walk from the centre of a picturesque medieval hilltop village. Our room had outstanding views over the bay and the quality of the room, food (breakfast) and company was lovely. Massimo and Lea were delightful hosts, going far and beyond all the other hotels we stayed at during our cycle holiday in Campania and the Cliento region We will be coming back again, one night was simply too little take in everything this beautiful area of Italy has to offer Grazie Mille Massimo and Lea

Hotel Marulivo is a gem of a hotel in a tiny, medieval village perched above the sea. The views from the terrace and the garden terraces are the stuff of dreams. We had a great stay and enjoyed every minute of it. We will return!

This is a special place. The hotel owners and kind and gracious hosts. I cannot express how much I enjoyed my stay in this little paradise. This is the place to stay in Pisciotta! The evening cocktails and morning breakfasts are wonderful and the view is breathtaking. I only wish I stayed longer!

We were a group of 13 women that stayed at Marulivo hotel for painting watercolours during a week in september. The visit was beyond all our expectations and we loved it. The hotel is tastfully decorated and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Lea, Massimo (hotelowners) and their staff did everything they could to make us feel comfortable. The hotel is like a small paradise on the hillside just a few hundred meters from the lovely little piazza in Pisciotta. I loved to walk down to the quiet beach for a morning swim and up again early in the morning even if the walkingpath was quite steep. Pisciotta has a lot of steps so its not recommendable for those who have problems with their legs. The breakfast was beautifully displayed on the big terrace overlooking the sea. Pisciotta is really a small pearl far away from the big tourist streams with no big hotels or crowded beaches and it will stay forever in my heart.

We stayed in this hotel in the summer of 2021. I is 4* but in reality is 5*. Everything about the hotel and the historic village is perfect. I stayed with my wife. Our hosts who owned the hotel could not be more helpful. It is a husband and wife team and their son helped us with the bags. They books great restruants for us every night and showed us the best plases to visit. The rooms are perfect and restored beautifully. If you want to spend a quite week in a converted monastory in an original ancient Italian village whicy in only 15 minutes walk to the beach, you will find no better than the Marulivo Hotel. The area was full of Italians and we did not come accross any other non italian tourists in out week stay in the beautiful area. It was the best value for money we have ever spent on hollidays anywhere. David and Aine, Ireland.

We had planned this trip three times. Marulivo and Pisciotta were always on the itinerary, and it was heartbreaking the first two times we had to cancel (due to Covid). Lea, with whom I was in contact, was kind and understanding, and reassured me that when we were actually able to make the trip, it would be worth the wait. How right she was!! We have been to the Amalfi coast twice. While it was lovely, it is overcrowded, overhyped, and overpriced. Pisciotta and the Cilento coast are what the Amalfi coast used to be - uncrowded, unspoiled, the "real Italy" many of us yearn for when we travel. Pisciotta is a hill town located just a few km above the sea. Marulivo is a gorgeous reinvention of a hundreds-of-years-old convent, lovingly restored and outfitted with all the modern conveniences. We stayed in the "Monastery" room, so named because of the ancient wooden confessional screen embedded in a wall between the sleeping area and the sitting area. What a unique and interesting touch!! The room was very comfortable, well-decorated, and very quiet. The piece de resistance at the hotel is the ocean-view terrace, where the bountiful breakfast is served and where guests retreat in the late afternoon for cocktails and other sundowners, masterfully prepared by Lea and Massimo. One thing to keep in mind - this is not a particularly suitable place for people with mobility issues - the town itself is a warren of cobblestone stairs and lanes, and you cannot drive straight up to the hotel door because it is situated in the laneways rather than on a "street." The hotel itself is also situated on a few different levels, serviced by stairs. There is a sand beach in Pisciotta Marina, directly down the hill from the town (about a mile or two walk down). Although we are in good physical shape, it was a heatwave while we were there and because of that, and the steep slope down, we were completely worn out when we got to the beach (don't even think about trying to walk back up if the weather is uncooperative!). There are a couple of organized areas at that beach, where you can rent sunbeds and umbrella for 10 euros, and when you're done, Lea can arrange for a tuk-tuk to whisk you back up to the town. Perfect day out!! If you are open to a little drive, just adjacent to Pisciotta is a nature reserve and many beaches, so there are lots of options to get in the water, which is clean and clear and a perfect swimming temperature. Although we did not require trip planning assistance, having done massive amounts of research before we arrived, Lea and Massimo are founts of knowledge of the area and activities to undertake, and they are happy to dispense their wisdom and plan outings for their guests. They did plan several dinner reservations for us, at two lovely local restaurants, which we greatly appreciated.
