From first arrival at this hotel the attitude towards customer service was on full display. The reception desk was not attended, but when a member of housekeeping staff kindly tried to help get attention for me she was rudely blanked by the proprietor. The kind housekeeper suggest I try to speak with them myself as she had been treated so dismissively. The stay itself was satisfactory in meeting our basic needs of a bed and shower. The room was clean if sparse and old fashioned in décor. After leaving the hotel, the complete lack of care or customer service again came transparent. We were travelling by motorcycle, it was raining and therefore in the packing of our luggage we missed 2 items. We quickly realised this and contacted the hotel, requesting they might be forwarded to an address elsewhere in France where we were staying a few days for a wedding. They denied the items were there. Knowing this to be a lie, we persisted and eventually the hotel confirmed they had one of the items only. By then it was too late to forward in France, so they would return the item to the UK. I was then told that this had required a tax declaration and received a demand for 40€ for tax and postage costs. This reference to taxes that needed paying was repeated on the phone. In truth NO taxes are due on the return of personal items, so when I asked the hotel for information to make a tax reclaim they admitted it was actually a charge they had imposed for their employees time. I had been mislead. I do not appreciate the pettiness, lies and poor customer service of this hotel and could not recommend it to any other traveller in case you should have some need of help or kindness.
