실라 아테네(Shila Athens)

Very elegant, charming and friendly secret place in Kolonaki… In an ancient Athenian house. Beautifully furnished. Very comfortable. Full of plants. Some private gardens. Exquisite breakfast. An unforgettable experience.

A real delight: The most incredible staff and a beautiful room. We’re a well travelled couple in our 50’s and we’ve never experienced staff as wonderful as this. Nothing is too much trouble and they exude warmth and charm all the time. We had 5 nights here in April 2024 and stayed in a room called Romantic Dust. The room was beautiful and very instagrammable if that’s your bag! It lacked a bit of storage and practically for a 6 day stay but the bath tub was lovely, breakfast in our garden room was a real treat, the floating bed was comfortable & great relax on after a busy day exploring. The staff make it what it is though. You won’t find better.

What a raving beauty this hotel is. I've stayed in about 850 hotels around the world, at all price points, and the Shila is in my top 5. I'm also a hard marker, nothing's ever good enough, etc. Beautiful interior, so tasteful, and personable service. Thank you to the lovely Ismini and all the other ladies.

One of the great hotels and a complete bargain. In a beautiful quiet street in a prime location. The staff were phenomenally attentive and friendly. Much love to the Shila team and look forward to seeing you all again soon

Shila looks fantastic in pictures and it looks just as good in reality. The location is superb, in the heart of Kolonaki and near plenty of bars, restaurants and a walkable distance to Syntagma station, and into Monistiraki, Exarcheia, Kolonaki etc. Mixed views on service, the main lady on reception was helpful enough if a little stiff, and could maybe be a little more laidback, the man on the other hand was rather abrupt and could come across as rude to some. We got the feeling he was under pressure with a late breakfast service so maybe just a bad day - after all we all have those. Breakfast was okay, but nothing special, and although our room was picturesque, it was actually just too small/cramped, with no where to store your suitcase it takes up the small amount of floor space there is. I know the hotel sell everything you can see but they could do with freeing up some space in the room, maybe removing some items? A great venue but I'm glad we were only there for 3 nights and out most of the day/night.

I can only speak for my room. The artists atelier. It was absolutely the coolest room. Beautifully decorated. Great art. Dimitris was a wonderful host. I would recommend it to everyone. Great location.

I stayed at the Shila hotel recently and absolutely loved the experience. It’s a small boutique hotel. I stayed at the Artist Atelier (which was huge!) and it seemed that every corner was decorated by hand picked selections. So many details! The service was great and they made you feel like you were the only one staying there. The location is great because even though it’s close to major landmarks, restaurants, etc. the street it is on is very quiet with no traffic. Breakfast on the upper terrace was terrific too. Great if you’re looking for a small, quiet, not cookie-cutter experience.

I am so puzzled by the good reviews of this hotel. We arrived after a long day of travel. When we arrived at Shila we were kept waiting for 15 minutes. We stood in the entry hello with our suitcases and said hello to a staff member at a table. He looked up and then continued to look through papers without saying a thing. After 15 minutes I asked if we could check in. He told me he was very busy, but said he’d be with us in a few minutes. During the checkin he continued to grumble about his day. He also said some things that are not fit for publication. I have never had a ruder and more unpleasant hotel “welcome.” This person shouldn’t be in the hospitality business!!! Our room was dark, and the concrete walls are cracked and peeling. Apparently this is the look that this place is going for. The two (??) bathrooms were painted black and very small and very dark. One had no door, just a gold gauze curtain. There were only showers…no tub. The only pleasant moment of the stay was a nice yogurt and pastry breakfast on the roof deck, which unfortunately only has a view of the walls of adjacent concrete buildings. I really don’t understand the appeal of this place.

A lovely small hotel with extremely gracious staff. The breakfast was excellent and having it on the roof deck added to the pleasure.
