Charming hotel with welcoming, attentive staff and a spacious, good restaurant. Simple but attractive and very clean room, pleasant bar and lounge and relaxing ambience. A good base for skiing or hiking in the area and a spectacular train ascent from Aigle to get there. Car park if you are driving.

Luckily all I'd wanted was a quiet place to relax and read a book and the restaurant sounded good (it was - see separate review). The room was on 2 levels - a seating area and a bathroom and then up a flight of wooden steps to the sleeping area with a double bed and a single bed. The double bed I slept in was comfortable as was the sofa downstairs. The room as such was really nice. Breakfast was ok. The wifi did not work in the room. Due to other reviews, I was prepared for this. It did work at reception (thankfully so I was able to prove that I'd already paid for the room when I got billed for it on check out) and the restaurant. When I reported this, I was clearly not believed and was told that the wifi was working fine. With the number of reviews mentioning that the wifi does not work, surely some action should be taken. Avoid room 16. In the hope that being nearer the door and thus nearer the wifi router I'd seen in the corridor would mean that the wifi would work in the room, I moved a chair. Only to find rubbish from previous occupants, including an eaten pot of some food. Rather than cover it up again or leave it where I could see it, I carefully threw it in the bin, but of course I couldn't actually clean the floor itself. Others have mentioned that the room can be quite dark even if all the lights are on. This is true - I would not want to have had to work there and read papers. Luckily my book was an e-book. It didn't help that one of the bulbs in the bathroom was flickering. Reporting all this met with a defensive attitude. A simple apology would have sufficed. I simply wanted them to fix it for the next guest. This is the main reason for the low rating I've given. Mistakes happen and things break, but the lasting impression is how it is dealt with. As you can probably guess, I won't be going back. Shame, as I enjoyed my meal.

L'accueil n'était pas top concernant la serveuse... 18h15 Bonsoir nous aimerions savoir si nous pouvons souper pour 4 personnes 2 enfants et 2 adultes.... Réponse de la serveuse nous sommes complets sur un ton pas des plus agréables.... La serveuse propose à mon épouse, vous voulez quand même boire quelques chose? J'avais déjà retourner mes pas vers la sortie de l'établissement. J'aurais été sans mes enfants et mon épouse je ne serai pas rester. Comme par magie elle nous a proposé une place au carnotzet. Nous lui avons dit nous sommes pas des personnes compliqué avec deux filles en âge d'adolescente. Le service c'est passé comme un peu sur le début d'arriver. Nous avons bien mangé c'était bon, et le service rapide. Je tiens à dire qu'il y avait une serveuse avec le sourire, comme quoi. Merci à cette personne.

Abbiamo prenotato per un week end per partecipare ad un raduno di auto a Chateau d'Oex. La distanza da Chateau d'Oex è di circa 18 kilometri di strada molto piacevole, quindi tutt'altro che un problema spostarsi. Inoltre l'albergo dispone di un parcheggio di fronte, quindi perfetto per noi. L' albergo è curatissimo. Camere perfette, pulitissime spaziose e silenziose. Spazi comuni carini dove poter prendere un aperitivo in un'atmosfera di montagna. Personale molto cortese sia in Reception che nel ristorante. L'albergo infatti offre anche un ristorante con la possibilità di mangiare all'aperto (nella stagione adatta🙂). Abbiamo mangiato molto bene e le ragazze in servizio si sono distinte per gentilezza e simpatia. Anche la colazione a buffet è completa di tutto ed è seguita dal personale in modo attento. Insomma un posto in cui ci siamo ripromessi di tornare per un soggiorno più lungo. Complimenti alla direzione e a tutto lo staff. Carlo
