The Dylan Jack Quartet returns to The Music Mansion to provide LIVE music accompaniment to two classic Buster Keaton films, The Frozen North and Sherlock Jr. Combining improvisation and composition, the quartet will breathe new life into these wonderful works of comedy from the 1920s. Clear out your home from all your unwanted clothes and accessories (good & clean condition please!). Then come, dig, and leave with a whole new wardrobe! All the leftovers will be donated to a local non-profit organization. Only rules: be kind, be generous, and be chill. Open and welcome for all peoples, all bodies, all identities! What to Expect at our Clothing Swap Attendees bring their unwanted & ready to donate CLEAN clothing to the event. (Please ensure all clothing is in decent, clean and wearable condition. If you wouldn't wear it because it's too dirty/worn/torn, someone else probably won't either.) All clothing will be placed into clothing piles organized by type and attendees will dig through, try on, and keep any items they want for themselves. If you need support digging through the clothing piles please let us know at the swap and we can assist you and/or provide rolling chairs to make it easier. We do not seperate our clothing based on gender. Attendees can bring as much or little clothing as they want to donate to the swap. And you can take as much or little as you want. We do not patrol how many items are brought or taken. Meet and become apart our sustainably focused community. You can also shop The Nest's secondhand and vintage inventory. Recording and editing are two of the fundamental building blocks of any podcast or audio project. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll get an in-depth introduction to recording in the studio and in the field. You will also learn the basics of audio editing and how to make you and your guests’ voices sound their best. This workshop is meant for beginners and will be a fun, relaxed atmosphere - no previous experience necessary! Please bring a laptop to the workshop if you have one. The instructor will send instructions to download the free editing software beforehand. About the Instructor Alex Birch is a digital strategist, storyteller, and community-builder with many years of experience in audio and podcasting. At PRX, she led the PRX Podcast Garage — a community space to welcome, coach, and convene new voices in audio. Previously, she interned at Rhode Island Public Radio and designed a program at Brown University for storytelling and social change. She has also independently produced audio and community storytelling projects. She currently works on ParentData by Emily Oster, a data-driven newsletter and podcast for pregnant people and parents. This month, we’re tackling the Elephant in the Room—shining a light on the hidden, the uncomfortable, and the unavoidable. Join us to explore what happens when we name it, claim it, and confront it head-on. What issues do our communities need to confront but haven't yet? How can art bring attention to the unspoken or overlooked? What truths have you embraced that set you free? Doors open at 7:20pm and presentations kick off at 8:20pm. PechaKucha Providence is built and sustained by our community. Thank you to our venues, vendors, and volunteers make this magic happen each month. Thank you to the Providence Tourism Council for supporting us in spreading the word about what we do. What is PechaKucha? If you haven't heard of this global yet unpronounceable phenomenon, PechaKucha is a monthly format for sharing ideas in which presenters are allotted 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide. Simply put: it's 6 minutes and 40 seconds of show and tell for grown-ups. It began in Tokyo in 2003, has since spread to over 1,200 cities worldwide, and first landed in Providence in March of 2009.
