Ben is the former Associate Artistic Director of Rapid Fire Theatre, where he performed in the flagship TheatreSports show every friday night for seven years, and a nominee for a Canadian Comedy Award. He has performed, taught, and directed improvisation at The Magnet Theatre (NYC), Out of Bounds Comedy (Austin), UCB (LA), Highwire Comedy (Atlanta), English Lovers (Vienna), IGLU (Ljubljana), FERIIR (Reunion Island), Bad Dog (Toronto), and Blind Tiger (Vancouver). His performance work has been presented by The Art Gallery of Ontario, CAFKA, Lumen Fest, Movement Research at Judson Church, The Tank NYC, Mile Zero Dance, Brian Webb Dance Company, Expanse Festival of Movement Arts, Rubaboo Festival, Guelph Dance Festival, SpringWorks, and the Gas Station Arts Centre. Amy is former Artistic Director of Rapid Fire Theatre (Edmonton, Canada), where she had been part of the ensemble since 2002. During her time at Rapid Fire Theatre, she coordinated five weekly shows, a busy improv academy, three annual festivals and an ensemble for 40 performers. In this role, she received an Excellence in Artistic Direction Award from Edmonton's Mayor's Evening for the Arts. Amy is thrilled to have been a part of many amazing improv festivals around the globe where she has performed, led workshops, and directed original formats, including Impro Amsterdam, FERIIR on Reunion Island, Monkeyfest in Bogota, Improvention in Canberra, Impro in Berlin, and JFL Vancouver. Fun Fuel with Tom HillOne class. 5 hours. In all Tom’s many grizzled years of doing improv shows, he’s found that one key skill fuels great scenes: fun characters. From there, great games and hilarious scenes follow. In this one-day intensive you will hone this skill and explore how explosively fun it can be to take big character risks. Once those wild characters are in the room, you will practice getting the most out of them, both as the one playing the lead characters and as secondary swings in scenes. Together, you’ll gas each other up towards a blaster of a showcase that will double as a chance to show off maybe the most important skill in improv. This is a great workshop for those who have trouble playing characters or those who are already great character players but who lose the plot of the larger scene and can’t find game (and anyone in between). Develop your skills and increase your confidence in acrylic painting by experimenting with materials, equipment and techniques. The course will cover the formal elements of making a painting through exercises that include, colour, tone and composition. How do I learn English? Where do I find an ESOL class? ESOL funding in the UK has been cut by more than 50% in real terms since 2010. There are now fewer free ESOL classes available to migrants, not enough classes with childcare and a lack of information about where and how to find a class. The #LoveESOL campaign has been working since 2017 to ensure that anyone who needs an ESOL class can get one. As part of the campaign, English for Action ESOL students invite you to a forum theatre event to learn more about the problems migrants, refugees and people seeking asylum face when trying to access ESOL. The play will be performed with opportunities for audience members to intervene and propose changes to rules and resources in order to make ESOL more accessible. After the performance, there will be a facilitated discussion in groups where we will plan next steps together. Pinch presents: The Puppet-Prov workshop series with Kez Vicario-Robinson! Explore the art of puppetry and improv! Over two sessions (6 hours total) learn puppetry techniques and skills and develop your unique puppet's movement and voice through improv exercises. We walk through the lovely, historic town of Much Wenlock, then cross farmland, offering fine views, to reach apple orchards beyond. At Shirlett Common we join the Jack Mytton Way to Barrow, before returning via Posenhall and Benthall Hall, descending back to Ironbridge via Spout Lane and Workhouse Coppice. Grade of Walk: Moderate Length: 9.5 miles Pace: Steady Terrain: Mixed terrain, using field and woodland paths and some quiet lanes. One short section on road. Sections may be muddy. Steps and Stiles:No steps, some stiles. Dog Friendly: NO Walk Leader: Jane Warman Specific Walk Information:Please meet promptly we catch the 11.04 bus to Much Wenlock. Please bring bus fare or pass. Essential Information for Walkers: All walks take place within the Ironbridge Gorge which will naturally include uphill and downhill sections. Please come prepared for the walk, with water, drinks, snacks and lunch as appropriate as it is not possible to purchase items on route. Good walking boots/shoes are essential and be prepared for wet or sunny weather- possibly both in the same day! Children ( Under 18’s ) are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult with parental responsibility and be capable of the distance, pace and duration of the walk. Please allow plenty of time to reach your event parking can be tricky in the gorge! It is possible to reach Ironbridge via public transport but there are limited services.
