Azraq Wetlands Reserve

Really enjoyable. Lots to see in May 2024.

If you are nearby and like wildlife, this is worth calling into (May 2024). The water makes it very cool compared to the dry desert, which was a relief. We saw 16 bird species in our short hour wander...

Very little to see

The wetlands are not very extensive and the trail is very short. On the day we went in April, there was very little wildlife in the park. In the hide overlooking the lake we spotted a few night herons...

Recovering lands

If you are in the area, this is worth a stop. Enjoy the visitor center and the trial around the wetlands where you can see birds, fish, learn the history and maybe spot water buffalo!

Interesting reserve

We visited and did the boardwalk walk. We saw a few birds - but what was most striking was the story of the shrinking oasis, owing to excessive water extraction. good to see that this is being reverse...
