Quiapo Church, also known as the Black Face Nazarene Church of Jesus, is a Catholic church, named for its life-size wooden black statues of Jesus. It is one of the most famous landmarks in Manila. Many believers still believe that the black statues of Jesus in churches have magical power and bring good luck to people.
As I struggled through a narrow lane under the swath of crowds, I saw a surge of people in front of the church, and there were cheerful chants, candles and flowers selling booths, which were holding Mass activities. At this time, I remember that today is the day of collective pilgrimage for Catholics every week.
Among the many churches in Manila, this one belongs to the one that feels more beautiful.
