The Neue Post is a lovely hotel in a great location, 5 mins walk from Zell Am See station which is perfect if you’re taking the train from Salzburg which we did - I highly recommend that journey. The hotel is ideally situated less than 5 mins walk (in ski boots) to the nearest lifts. Our room (311) was lovely, clean and modern but also cosy, with a great view over the lake. The church bells at 7am every morning could be annoying if you didn’t want to rise that early but it served as our wake up call. Food at the hotel was plentiful and delicious but, in my opinion, maybe a tad “high end” and rich for a ski holiday. I could have done without the 5 courses, with the fancy piped potatoes and veg and had 2 more traditional, simpler, dishes. But that is just my opinion and hats off to the chefs who are no doubt, very talented. Breakfast was lovely with a good selection of hot and cold dishes, pastries, fruit, pancakes, yoghurt, cheeses and meats. More than enough to satisfy everyone’s needs. But the selling point for the hotel has to be the superb spa! Warm, inviting and an abundance of options - at least 3 different saunas (one with panoramic views over the lake), the best aromatic steam room I’ve ever experienced, a jacuzzi, solarium and the best bit for me, the wonderful, adult only relaxation zone upstairs with comfortable day beds. All great so far. However, I have to now add a negative comment, much to my chagrine. The total relaxation vibe in this area was completely spoiled on our last day by a group of lads enjoying beers and card games in the area. We complained to reception, no action was taken. The hotel let itself down on this point. There were also a group of Irish youths who found it amusing to leave the door wide open, jump on the beds then leave. This makes me sound like a right moaning Minnie but we had enjoyed such a fabulous experience the day before, it was completely ruined the next day. I would suggest a member of staff intermittently checks the area to ensure the rules are being adhered to. If I’m perfectly honest, I’d rather the whole spa area be kids free or at least have an hour or so when it’s adult only - the jacuzzi was constantly full of kids. One final point - we were led to believe that afternoon tea was included, which wasn’t on offer. I think that was an error on the part of our tour operator, not the hotel, and we were given a bottle of wine to compensate which was a very nice gesture. Ending on another positive note - because this really is a lovely hotel - the staff are exemplary, especially the young waiting staff in the restaurant. Thank you!
