Our stay more than exceeded our expectations. Everything was well organised and game drives were relaxing, informative and always with something special to see

I did several game drives in national parks in Namibia, Botswana, and South Africa but my 3 days at Tau Lodge on the private game reserve was easily the best. The lodge/room was so beautiful and the game drives were phenomenal - we got incredibly close to the animals and the drivers had a very organized system to make sure each truck had a good viewing experience without being overwhelming to the guests or the animals. Every detail of the stay was perfect. I've recommended it without hesitation to so many people who have asked for safari suggestions. This is was my third visit. One of the many great things (maybe the best) is the view over the waterhole. When we arrived we had lunch and from the deck we saw impalas, wildebeast, a buffalo, three rino's and many elephants. I brought my adult children and had to explain that it is not normal that you see so many animals all together. Alle day long, animals come to drink or play (baby elephants) the water. All large rooms (chalets) look out over the waterhole and have an outdoor shower. The staff is amazing and super friendly and the food plenty and delicious. I requested ranger Herman again and he really goes out of his way to find animals we did not see yet like lions and wild dogs. He even spotted an African Wild Cat on a mountain side using the flashlight at night. We also enjoyed the pool with bush view. Tau is a larger lodge and offers excellent value for money if you want a malaria free safari.

We recently stayed at Tau Game Lodge for a family holiday. We had a fantastic experience. we were welcomed by friendly staff and introduced to our lovely guide Lizzy. we saw the Big 5 and Magnificent 7 all up close and personal. i loved the position on the river watching animals come and go and our family chalet was on the water hole too. we had a big storm that filled up the river/watering hole and we saw even more animals wander down for a drink directly from our balcony. the food was amazing. We are both gluten-free, and the chefs made a huge effort to give us so many different choices. the wine list was great too. we were there for New Year's, and they threw a big surprise party. Highly recommend this experience.

Tau never disappoints. The staff there brings us back over and over. The animals are a bonus! We love the insight and excitement the rangers bring to each drive. the inhouse staff serves with kindness, care and smiles. No need to consider any other lodge in Madikwe!

It was absolutely a very nice experience. Staff were so friendly and did their best for us. The chalet was perfect for 3 people.
