Airport Motor Lodge

I stayed here because it was rated well and because of descriptions such as "GREAT" and "EXCELLENT". I was also attracted by the statement by someone that the place was quiet despite being so close to the airport. I'd experienced the Novotel and knew that this COULD be true. In short, NONE of this applies to this motel. Greeted by the sweaty guy at the desk who smelled of day old body odor. The room: small, which is fine. What was not fine were the obvious body fluid stains on the bedspread. The neighborhood is iffy to say the least. The sweaty guy told me that there was a pub 5 minute's walk away. Good pub, the Local. Good food there. The walk.....just don't do it after dark. This neighborhood is not a place you'd want to be walking after dark. Finally, there's the claim that this was "quiet despite being close to the airport". The single paned windows cut NONE of the outside noise. Not the planes, which OK you're AT the airport...but not the sound of cars driving by (which was constant, all night) and not normal voiced conversation in the parking lot which happened through the night. It does have free internet, but it doesn't work correctly and it's limited. The bed itself was DIABOLICAL. I need a massage from sleeping on this instrument of medieval torture. In short, this place is a 2. It's not a 3, not a 4 and certainly not a 5. The cum stains alone take it down several notches from a 4 or 5. They really need to clean that up. Stay here out of desperation for a place to stay that's close to the freeway. Certainly don't bring a family here, this neighborhood is no place and has nothing for kids. The Chinese places across the street look like good places to avoid as well.

We choose this hotel because of the location, need to stay the night to catch a morning flight the next day. The location is convenient but the place is really rundown. The shower area in the toilet is separated by curtain only so the toilet gets really messy and wet after use. Heater in the room not working and you can not find any power point to charge your phone/notebook in the room. Lastly, although advertise that it provide free internet what they actually provide is an hour access or 20MB max data only.

When booking I was asked for my flight times to co-ordinate the courtesy transfer from Wellington Airport which I duly did by return email. When I arrived at Wellington Airport, there was no one there to collect me or my luggage so I rang the Airport Motor Lodge only to be met with a recorded message that their hours were something like 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and I should leave a message so they could return my call the next day. Problem was it was only 6.45 p.m. !! Anyhow, being somewhat tired, I just caught a cab. When I questioned the lady upon arrival at the front desk, she advised me that couldn't have happened as their phones were working. She then proceeded to get her superior who said I didn't book a transfer so, even if someone was available, they would not have picked me up anyhow. He did agree that their phone was indeed switched to their message service as he was "out the back". I produced the email to them confirming my flight arrival times they had requested when making the booking to which he said,"I don't care, I'm right and you are wrong." I then asked why he bothered asking for my flight detail in the first instance and he became even more abusive. As such, I gave up and just went to my room,freshened up and went out for dinner. Upon return, there was another Scottish couple also experiencing the Airport Motor Lodge's "hospitality" having just got off a flight and were unable to access their room. I won't be returning anytime soon.

We booked months in advance although confirmed booking and arrival time close to staying. Instructions for calling for mini van were out of date and when a direct call was made it went to message.My friend has very limited mobility and walks with pain but had to walk in dark with bags although it is not very far from airport. Rooms basic and clean with fridge, TV Wi-Fi. My friend’s room was comfortable but at 2am I woke to find that large amounts of water had, and were,coming out of the airconditioner onto my head and pillows. Without aircon the room quickly became stuffy.Unsatisfactory response from management on both issues. No issues with getting a lift to the airport in the morning and breakfast served on time in rooms. However not good value the night we stayed.

You can walk to the airport Clean hotel Nice rooms Nice greek restaurant opposit side of the street BUT Unpleasant and unhelpful couple of owners. No sens of service There is supposed to be a free shuttle to go the airport; yet when we asked for it, we were explained it was not a taxi and we could anyhow walk until the airport , which we did with all our luggages

Good size room (803) was on road side but with windows shut traffic noise is minimal and as planes don't fly all night noise from the airport is fine for sleeping. Free wifi, good shower room with shampoos and shower gel etc. Breakfast can be ordered. Easy walking distance to airport (7-10 minutes) but also have a courtesy shuttle too. Coffee & tea making facilities and also lots of choice in mini bar and snacks available. 2 doors down from Apex rental car hire! I'd like to see the walls re-painted as at entrance area into room they are scuffed.
