The perfect place for your family or group to stay for a ski trip, wedding, or visit to the Mad River Valley. Includes a fully furnished kitchen with everything you will need to cook during your stay. Two open living spaces include a gas fire place, TV with streaming services & plenty of space to relax. Outside includes a partially fenced in patio area that is open to the driveway.Other items available for your use during your stay include a washer and dryer, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, clothing steamer, standing fans. The River House is our cherished 170 year old home that sits on the banks of Freeman Brook, on the parade route, in Warren Village, around the corner from the Pitcher Inn and The Warren Store. The second you get out of your car and walk through the front door, you step back in time, and the sound of the babbling brook washes calm over your soul. The back yard is open and flat with the brook wrapping around the whole thing. Off of the kitchen is an incredible deck with grille, perched above the babbling brook. An absolutely enchanting place to relax with friends and family. The River House is 4 minutes from the Lincoln Peak (Sugarbush) parking lot, 7 minutes from Blueberry Lake, and directly across the street from the Warren Path, which leads to Warren Elementary School, and to the Vista Trail, an excellent short hike through beautiful hemlock and hardwood forest to a fantastic lookout. Initially, it was a modest seasonal cabin constructed in the 60s. Later, in the 90s, a Log Home extension was added using locally harvested timber, connecting to the original structure. A woodland garden meanders around the cabin, leading back to the parking area.---------------------------------------------------PARKING/DRIVING/VEHICLE REQUIREMENTSThe cabin driveway accommodates parking for two vehicles, with additional space for up to two vehicles available across the road.In SUMMER and AUTUMN 4-wheel drive is NOT NECESSARY but please know the last 0.5 mi is a dirt road. In WINTER all vehicles MUST HAVE 4-wheel drive and winter tires. It is a steep dirt road the last 0.25 mi. During MUD SEASON (the time when everything thaws as the earth gets ready for spring, typically sometime between late March and early May) it is RECOMMENDED to have a vehicle with a higher clearance and 4 wheel drive. Also, during mud season both vehicles must park in the lower driveway.--------------------------------------Please avoid driving up Hillside Road without a 4-wheel drive vehicle in winter. Those who do so during winter and subsequently get stuck will incur a $200 fine. While our neighbors are kind and helpful, they do not appreciate the road being blocked unnecessarily.One parking space is typically available (though not guaranteed) at the hill's base for guests who opt to park their vehicle there and either walk up or catch a ride with another guest.
