파조 다 트라베

We spent a couple of weeks touring northern Spain and mainly stayed in Paradors where available. This hotel fitted in between stays in the Paradors at Ribadeo and Ferrol. It sounded wonderful with an historic building, beautiful gardens and tranquility. Much of the building has been restored and the room we were offered was devoid of any original features, was on the fourth floor, no lift exists and the room seemed small and dark. But the real problem was that our stay coincided with a wedding reception, and clearly the hotel specialises in these with many more planned over the course of the year. A large dining area cum dance floor, plus a canvas marquee, are close to the hotel. We enquired about noise and were assured the music would stop at midnight, but it continued until 3am. The loud beat kept us awake. We had ordered a full breakfast at 13 Euros per head but when we came down to the dining room all we were offered was two pieces of cake and toast, and not even orange juice. Luckily an employee who spoke good English then appeared and was very sympathetic. He said that if a wedding was booked then reservations should not have been taken for other guests, though we had booked in January! He then summoned the charming owner and it was agreed that we would pay nothing for our room or the dreadful breakfast. We did pay for the dinner we had eaten the previous evening which was extremely good - though we were the only ones in the large dining room. The dinner was excellent, the grounds are beautiful, part of the building has been well restored but clearly we had a pretty awful time due to the wedding music. I would caution about booking there and request specific details about whether wedding receptions are planned.

We were here for my brother’s wedding and stayed for two days. Apart from housing a fantastic wedding, it provided a wonderful stay in terms of atmosphere and authenticity. Above all I have to mention the world class service. The hostess and owner Leticia and her crew provide a personal and professional service with a true “anything can be done”-attitude. I highly recommend this place.

Quietly situated hotel in the Viveiro valley. The hotel offers a tranquil haven and provides a good base for the area. Great ambience, good beds, good food at very reasonable prices and foremost a host that is the embodiment of hospitality! Just enjoyed our stay here tremendously.

This is a wonderful pazo - a beautiful, ancient and slightly quirky place, fascinating to explore. The manageress is amazing. She is so friendly, seems to be everywhere at once and yet always has time to chat, explain things and answer questions. We had room 107 which was small, but had a lovely balcony overlooking the garden with a bathroom window overlooking another side of the garden. The pazo is a fabulous place to relax as it is very quiet and peaceful (apart from village dogs barking in the distance through the night). We ate at the pazo both nights - described as “simple food cooked with love” which it certainly was. It was all really tasty and only €20 for a 3 course meal.

A wonderful gem. Extremely characterful old building steeped in history with fantastic furnishings and décor, beautiful gardens and private parking. Lovely pool too but unfortunately it was due to open after our stay. Leticia was so very helpful from the start of our booking and continued to be so before and during our stay providing a small fridge for our room and recommending places to visit. We had a wonderfully spacious quiet 1st floor family room overlooking the garden with decent sized bathroom. We chose to eat in both nights – traditional homely meals with a choice of wine – perfect after a day out. Breakfast consisted of home made or locally produced products and we even had egg and bacon one morning. A perfect place to sit and contemplate the day, relax and unwind. Un pazo bellísimo con unas instalaciones hoteleras magníficas , muy próximo a Viveiro y en un paraje natural maravilloso. Lo mejor de todo la atención de su equipo profesional, de entre los que quiero destacar a Sara, capaz de resolver cualquier problema, incluso en agosto, sin que el cliente sufra las consecuencias.Y siempre con una sonrisa en la cara y las ganas de convertir tu estancia en una experiencia inolvidable.Un 10 en servicio, que para mí es lo primordial en un establecimiento hotelero.
