As you enter the traditional high wooden gates, you become enchanted by the beauty of the place. Rustic and charming chalets, set among fir trees, each with 2-3 rooms and their own private terrace, where you can spend your evenings dining with family and the mornings gazing at the beautiful hill landscape. In every corner, you can feel the hosts' soft touch and the love they put into making the guests feel as welcome as possible: in the flower pots decorating the terraces, in the round wooden gazebo where the sun caresses your cheeks at sunset, in the kilts that rest next to hand-painted plates on the rooms' walls, in the carefully-woven carpets or in the old pots that hang on wooden stands all around the garden (a local tradition with its own story). The hosts, Mrs. Florica and Mr. Ion, who dedicated their youth to this place, welcome you at the gate with warmth and open arms. At breakfast, fresh local dishes await you (selection of cheeses, eggs, eggplant salad, ham, salami, garden vegetables, freshly milked and boiled cow's milk, tea, coffee, home made jam, butter and honey). Dinner, kindly prepared by Mrs. Florica, is an incursion into the gastronomic secrets of Maramures: polenta layered with cheese and sour cream coming fresh from the farmers, traditional "sarmale" or soups with home-made noodles. This lovely guesthouse is ideally located right in the heart of Maramureș, within easy reach - in no more than an hour by car - of all the tourist attractions in the region (all being less than 50km away): the starting point of "Mocanita" in Vișeul de Sus, Breb village, the Blue Lake, the Bârsana monastery, the Săpânta Merry Cemetery, Borșa resort or the Horses' Waterfall ("Cascada Cailor"). I highly recommend staying at Pensiunea Maria Turlas, where tradition and kindness meet and from where you can explore the wonderful region of Maramures at your own pace.
