We stayed here for a 4 night break. It is a large pub with many play items outside for children, although there were not many around during our stay. The staff here must be the best of any pub in the UK, with plenty of time to chat, even when the pub and retaurant were busy. Angela was very helpful with ideas of places to visit and Rosie, Adam, Vanessa, Joe and all the others were very friendly and efficient. Our room, room 1, was very spacious as was the bathroom. There were biscuits, chocolates and pleasant toiletries provided and a king size bed. Large fluffy towels also there. One slight snag was that our room had not been serviced when we returned to the pub on Friday afternoon, but the barman soon rectified this, As for food, you need a big appetite as the portions, in addition to always being well cooked, are large as is the breakfast which has a large selection. On Thursdays, it is Steak Night and there is a very large choice of steaks which you only pay the price they paid their butcher. One thing we would have liked was a garden to sit at outside, although there was a patio and several tables adjoing the play area.

We are staying on the Isle for a wee break for our anniversary. We found this pub by a quick search online and I’m so glad we did. It was just amazing both the food and service. Very friendly to every customer, adult, children or dogs. The food was so delicious, I don’t normally order a dessert but I couldn’t resist and I was definitely not disappointed. Highly recommend if in the area or if not travel it’s so worth it. Hope to visit again while we are here .

34 in our family group distributed round the conservatory. The service was good and the staff friendly and patient. The food was a different story, we have visited the Chequers many times and it's our 'go to' restaurant for Sunday lunch and carvery. On this occasion there were quite a few mumblings and mutterings. The carvery was disappointing, complaints about the rock hard potatoes and tough yorkshire puddings mainly, I had the pork belly and cold black pudding, did someone forget to heat it or were they just not bothered? All in all a very average experience. Our large group was pre-booked so they knew we were coming, as the guy who set this venue up the family weren't too slow to let me know that they were not amused! Shame about the quality of the food, time for a change methinks.
