PodShare Venice

I stayed at the Venice Podshare with my girlfriend last night and it was a wonderful experience. Michael was so helpful in getting us checked in after hours. The space was clean and neat and I loved the sound of the white noise machine they had playing like rain. We will definitely check out the other location in San Francisco this summer!

I have never experienced such a horrible hostel experience in my many travels. The online pictures were much brighter and cleaner than in reality...dark, dirty, filthy kitchen, rundown furniture and bedding, lumpy mattress, no privacy to change, bathrooms had no noise barriers, as bathroom doors were louvered wood, allowing all bodily functions (urinating, deficating, farting, vomiting...yes, we heard it all, at all hours of the night) to be heard clearly by all. Quiet hours, which were posted and communicated as 10pm, were not followed, with cooking and stomping around the place past 2am. The smell of **** and some who were clearly under the influence of substances, was evidenced. We did not feel safe and did not sleep at all. When we tried to explain and asked to cancel, or give a partial refund, the management refused and mocked and gas lighted our concerns, saying the man who was puking and using the kitchen after midnight probably had a stomach ache and was making a bite to eat to settle their stomach. They offered to move us to a different location that was far from where we needed our accommodations. We asked if we could bless 2 other women to use our paid pod for the remaining 10 days and they refused that as well and would not speak in person on a phone call...all communication done by text, ending with their manager, sending a smiley face and telling us to have a good day. We lost $1500. Do yourself a favour and avoid this podshare. This was an unjust, greedy and selfish handling by the management and owners. What goes around, comes around...may they reap what they are sowing.

Abbiamo prenotato presso il Podshare Venice 4 notti ma abbiamo “dormito” solo 3 notti su 4. L’ultima abbiamo preferito trascorrerla altrove. Premetto che ho già inviato una mail alla struttura alla quale non ho avuto alcuna risposta ad oggi. Prima di tutto specifico che il podshare è al 25% un “backpacker hostel”. Il posto è occupato prevalentemente da gente che a quanto pare ci vive e condivide gli stessi spazi. E fin qui niente da Ho prenotato questo hostel per 4 notti ma vi abbiamo soggiornato solo 3 notti. Premessa: L’ostello e’ idealmente carino (sala riunioni, salottino con PlayStation e Xbox utilizzabili, giardino esterno con barbecue, tavolo da Ping pong, campetto da basket, possibilità di noleggio bici in loco. Molto vicino a Venice Beach . Tuttavia è composto principalmente da gente che abita proprio lì e condivide gli spazi (e fin qui nessun problema). I problemi sono altri: innanzitutto non si percepisce la minima attenzione alla pulizia. Sia gli spazi comuni che le zone letto sono molto molto sporche. Privacy a parte (e in un hostel è normale avere poca) i bagni sono davvero piccoli, non puliti a dovere e si sente ogni minimo movimento e in più non hanno porte che non consentono la minima intimita’ , pulizia e numero bagni inadeguati (sono pochissimi) al numero delle persone ospitate. La cucina noi personalmente non abbiamo mai usata. I letti hanno macchie e odore non propriamente gradevole. Il nostro era un “matrimoniale” Con una sorta di “scalino” che non lo rendeva confortevole per nulla. Abbiamo avuto un rumore di qualche genere di motore/ventole nelle orecchie per tutta la durata delle notti che ci ha reso il sonno molto molto leggero (pur usando i tappi). Cosa molto importante: hanno un serio problema di ratti/topi. Lasciando sempre le porte aperte (immagino per far arieggiare) si lasciano entrare anche gli animaletti che sono liberi di passeggiare per l’ostello e rosicare in giro. Le foto che vedete sui siti famosi di prenotazione non corrispondono per nulla al reale stato delle cose. Ciò che ha spinto me e la mia compagnia ad andarcene un giorno prima e’ che durante l’ultima notte siamo stati praticamente sempre svegli a causa di un nostro vicino di “pod” totalmente ubriaco che camminava avanti e indietro per il corridoio parlando da solo e agendo in maniera strana, oltre al fatto che la puzza di birra era nauseante. Si è pure preparato qualcosa da mangiare alle 3 che ha consumato nel suo letto (da specificare che la mattina precedente siamo stati svegliati da una impiegata del hostel che ci ha “sgridato” dicendoci di non lasciare cibo in giro per la struttura in quanto attirava i ratti… solo perché avevamo una busta di carta sul letto contenente un pacco di Ibuprofene e 3 bustine di the sigillate)..Tutto ciò è durato fino a quasi le 4 di mattina. Personale: i primi 2 giorni c’era un ragazzo (di cui non so il nome) molto disponibile e cordiale. La ragazza che lo ha succeduto decisamente meno. Ho fatto presente ogni cosa all
