Firstly I’d like to point out that I don’t like writing negative reviews but this place was the biggest disappointment during our whole family trip. I’ve stayed in numerous hotels throughout my life, having grown up in the hotel industry myself and this hotel by far the most disheartening in terms of service or lack there of against value for money. Only a very few members of staff were friendly (and I mean less than a handful), the rest needed to be trained up in terms of hospitality. The female sommelier clearly did not want to be working as that was evident in her manners and a lot of the times we had to wave to be served! Unfortunately on the first night there was a power cut in the area which happened 3 times. I completely understand that these things happen and are out of the hotel’s control, however our air conditioning unit was not reset so didn’t turn back on thus I had to call reception in the middle of the night. My brother’s room had the same issue and an engineer was sent to their room at 3.30am. The following morning nothing was said or addressed. Now if you’re considered being part of the network of Small Luxury Hotels of The World, one would expect at least the bare minimum of a letter from Mgt to be put into all rooms for any inconveniences caused during the night. Nothing was said or addressed. I had to request to speak to the reservation mgr instead. Now having spoken to him, I must admit that he handled the situation very well and professionally and offered ice cream to my kids and a glass of Prosecco to my family but my point is that it shouldn’t have gotten to that stage. Breakfast is lovely, a good spread with different selections. The ready made mix pancake machine is not what I would expect to see in a 5*. Service is terrible. Lots of staff congregating and not attending to guests. Again not what I would expect in a 5*. We had lunch at the resto by the pool and again even though the service standard was not great the food was. The pizzas were excellent! Some of my family members and I went to the spa for treatments. I have to admit, my full body massage was one of the best. My therapist was excellent. The thermal suites are not worth it and I feel as a standard and a guest who is paying €1000 per night, access to the thermal suites should be complimentary. If I remember correctly when asking, they said they charge €25 for an hr!! I’m really sorry to say that it was a disappointment as there is huge potential. If I would give them any advice to work on first, it would be to invest in proper hospitality training and service.

We stayed here for 3 nights & had a wonderful stay, from the moment you enter you feel relaxed. The service throughout our stay was impeccable in all areas of the hotel, staff are very friendly but professional & it is obvious that they want you to enjoy your stay and do everything they can to make this happen. Restaurant meals were excellent with plenty of choices. Our room was on the 1st floor with a balcony, whirlpool bath & shower, it was spotlessly clean. Loved the pool area & having your own small cool box with bottled water was a nice touch. Our holiday consisted of a stay in Matera, Alberobello & Torre Canne & a stay at Canne Bianche finished off our holiday perfectly.
