워터스 에지 호텔(Waters Edge Hotel)

We drove to Torquay for a spontaneous weekend away from home. Wanted a central, inexpensive, sea front hotel, with parking. The Waters Edge fit perfectly. A pleasant sea view room, reasonably clean, comfortable bed, heater in addition to central heating, easy parking, and a short walk to the beach and restaurants. Note that the hotel does not do any catering - including breakfast - but does provide a kettle, coffee and biscuits. You need to bring your own water or use tap water. The front door is locked at 23:00 hours so you need to ring the bell to enter after that time.

The man who checked us in was lovely. Apart from a few cobwebs in the corner around the window, the room was pretty clean. Tea and coffee were provided, all clean towels and extra pillows were a bonus. We weren’t given the Wi-Fi password for the hotel and we couldn’t get signal to use mobile data. On the whole, quite a reasonable hotel for the price.

Really clean, comfortable hotel on the sea front. Nice and quiet surroundings and very close to a beach, Torquay train station, Torre Abbey and the Riviera International Centre. It's about 20 min walk in to town or there are frequent buses in. The shower was nice and hot, bed comfy and warm, tea / coffee making facilities, and there was a lovely view from the room. The manager was easy to find, very helpful and friendly.

Stayed over Easter weekend. Arrived early Saturday evening having been lucky enough to get a last minute booking after our originally booked accommodation was too unpleasant to stay in. I’m so pleased it was as The Waters Edge was a much better choice all round! Right on the seafront, this huge, gorgeous building with its own lovely garden area is less than a minute from green space overlooking the ocean and access to the beach. 10-15 minute walk to main seafront area and town. Greeted by the owner, who seemed to be running the show mostly on his own and is doing a great job. Really friendly and helpful. Hotel seemed big a bright. Our sea view room was bright, clean and modern, lovely en-suite with big walk in shower. Only slight downside was the absence of food service, seems a shame with the space to facilitate a sea view restaurant in the hotel, but appreciate it comes with a lot of cost and complications. Would be great if this was on the cards in future. This did not blight our stay, the owner even lent us plates and cutlery when we ordered a late take away. Will definitely be back to stay again and would recommend to anyone looking for a laid back, peaceful stay on the seafront. Very reasonably priced and really pleasant atmosphere

Amazing. Me and my partner went for an anniversary weekend away. The room we had was absolutely gorgeous, the room was a little unclean to begin with but when we told the receptionist it was sorted straight away. Bars/restaurants just down the road. Views are incredible!!! It was sooo cheap for the location. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in!! Hoping to visit again this summer :)

Tiny room . No restaurant. No breakfast. And as far as I could see the bar is not licensed as No certification in view let alone it being very over priced. Could be nice if staff cared and not sat watching horror films at full volume at 2.30 in the afternoon and opened a kitchen. Basically a contractors room only stopover

Nice location for hotel which is clean and staff friendly. Very good price compared to other local hotels. Unfortunately our stay was accompanied by constant banging of doors early hours… how hard is it to be courteous to other guests. If coming back in the warly hours you have to ring the bell and a key would be more easier to save waking up the landlord.

Was down for a festival over Saturday/Sunday. Was welcomed very warmly & treated very well. The staff were pleasant & friendly. My stay in my room was what I expected for such good rates. I just needed a place to sleep & my room was very adequate. Would definitely be suggesting this hotel to friends & family, should they need a good place to sleep whilst visiting the stunning seaside town of Torquay. Thank you.
