Great location, and the room was well-equipped. The decor was traditional and the food was good.

Probably the worst hotel stay I’ve had in 30 years. The rooms haven’t been touched in 25+ years. They were basic beyond belief. Locals are embarrassed by this place. Lady manager(?) had no interest in customer service whatsoever. Award certificates in the reception area are all dated from the 1990’s or early / 2,000’s. Ancient!!

We had dinner tonight under their 50% off deal. The food was delicious! I had scampi & chips, plus sticky toffee pudding for dessert. No discount off the drinks. Would definitely recommend and will visit again. Staff helpful too - no complaints

Not even a roof over my head, as bad as it gets. No WiFi upstairs, joke in 2024. TV tiny. Never again will I stay here. Cold and wet and that's before you head outside. Food was alright. Staff I couldn't fault either. Absolute goldmine potentially if had a refurb.

Where to start, shower no preasure, wasn't sure I'll get soap off, head right against headboard and my feet still hanging over the bed, window right opposite outside boiler- never got any sleep, TV I surprised that is even working, no Internet, food? Er ordered fish and chips, £19.99 for 15 fries and one tiny pice of fish , breakfast for £18 left hungry more than before Locals having their evening socialising there too Definitely not staying again and avoiding by all means

We ended up at this hotel after being sent from their sister hotel, the Mansfield castle hotel. The gentleman on reception was certainly more professional looking and had some customer service. We were given a warm welcome and given a ground floor room. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. For dinner in the hotel we chose the prawn cocktail starter and I have to say they were very generous with their portions. I had the roast beef as a main course which was very nice and my husband chose the venison steak. My husband had quite a dodgy stomach the following day but obviously I'm unable to say if the venison was the culprit. Breakfast was nice the following morning, cooked Scottish.
