Die Heks se Huis

The look, the feel, the smell, the touch - it’s all exactly right in the three-bedroom Amethyst house at Die Heks se Huis! Madame Marita is an absolute darling, answers any questions you have, and lives in the spirit that is Sutherland. The house is so full of character, and was perfect for the tarot readings we did for our birthday weekend under the immaculate starry skies there. I, for one, have already recommended the place to my friends. My hope, though, is that I will return there sooner than any of them!

Die Heks Se Huis is a very cosy accommodation suitable for individual and family travels. Enjoy the mesmerising stars and peaceful night of Sutherland, I am definitely going back.

Very peaceful and safe environments. Close to all amenities. We chose this place because of the closest to the largest telescope.

We stayed in Sutherland one night. The place doesn’t look like the best from the outside, but the owner was very kind and funny. Unfortunately the good things stop there. Our “cottage” was a complete disaster, starting from the door that wouldn’t even close properly (we had to put something in front of it from keeping it to open). It was definitely not clean, there was a lot of dust along with a bad smell that we couldn’t really identify. There was rust everywhere, from the shower to the sinks, and the toilet was definitely not clean! The beds seemed ok, but we both felt like there was sand or dust in the sheets, and the bad smell kept us from a proper sleep. The price is completely out of range, as for the same money we slept in some wonderful and very well kept places along the way Too bad because the lady that welcomed us seemed genuinely friendly and caring, but the place is a complete mess.
