Hotel Alexandra Loen

Two adults spent 2 nights here in late August as part of a bus tour group and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was large by European standards, with twin beds, night tables, a large desk/chair, and sofa. Lighting was well done, especially in the bath area. Our room had a combo tub/shower with half glass door that was extremely difficult to get in and out of. Also the tub bottom was very slippery and there were no grab bars like in American hotels. The hotel boasts a spa, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, several hot tubs and numerous toys for children/children’s pools. Robes, towels and slippers are provided in each room. The 2 buffet dinners we had were excellent as were the 2 buffet breakfasts. The comforter on the bed was too warm at night--the room really needs sheets and mid-weight blankets on the beds. The staff were very nice. We definitely would stay here again.

Perfectly nice - not quite by the fjord - but good pools indoor and outdoor. Oddly completely empty when we used them. Generally a slightly peculiar vibe but hard to put finger on. Good indoor facilites - gym, pool, shuffle board , etc - slightly annoyingly high price though. Also electric car charging 400 NOK - the most expensive anywhere we stayed. Breakfast copious and decent but probably the least good of the ‘fancy’ places we stayed.

I stayed at Alexandra Hotel in Loen for two nights and truly enjoyed my experience. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable, and the hotel offers a wide variety of facilities and services. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious with many options to choose from. I also enjoyed exploring the beautiful surroundings of the hotel. Unfortunately, my stay was short, but I definitely wish to return and spend more time here. So far, Loen is the most beautiful place I have visited in Norway, and Alexandra Hotel is the best hotel I’ve stayed in during my trip.

The meals are included in the room price. Because of the price I expected better food. The dinner buffet has a huge assortment of food, but I felt that the quality of some of the items was poor. However because of the large assortment, you should find something you like. Breakfast was disappointing. We came a few minutes after breakfast started and the bowl of herring was almost empty. I suspect they served the leftovers from yesterday to get rid of them. While we were eating breakfast it was not restocked. The scrambled eggs were hard and rubbery. I would rank our room and public areas as 5 star, but the food lowered my rating. We had a room on the 7th floor with a view which was very nice and with some nice modern touches and a large bathrrom.

Nice hotel in great location. Quite modern with good beds, very clean . Only big problem is in heat wave there is no aircon. Parking is great, it is walking distance from sky lift and nice walks around the hotel and at the water. Very nice spa and indoor and outdoor swimming pool . Staff is polite and helpful. Dinner and breakfast are great buffet.

The Hotel Alexandra has modern, comfortable rooms - better than most. They have a very nice view of the lake & mountains. But their WiFi is not very good. The "Charlotte Restaurant" has outstanding smorgasbord meals - but there is just too much food! They also offer ala cart - with excellent service.
