I checked into the Wilshire Inn in Claresholm (Nov. 13th) while getting work done on my vehicle. I was only supposed to be here 2 days but it has turned into 6 days. I will be checking out hopefully in another day or two. What a fantastic hotel this is. I love it here. And I wouldn't hesitate to come back. I love the decor. I have tons of desk space (7 feet long guestimate) and huge TV with fridge, microwave and internet. The internet does go in and out here and there but it's fine. The rooms seem new, very clean, the bed is very comfortable and the heat/ac/fan controls are very easy to use and very effective. If I'm cold -- I just have to turn the dial and the room is warm in 5 min. Or I can cool the room down just as fast. I love that they have a laundry room on the main floor, a meeting room also on the main floor and a kitchen on the 2nd floor for us to use which has been awesome ! The hotel is next door to A&W and a Tim Hortons is also very close by. It is about a 1 km walk to a quaint little coffee shop (Blackwood coffee co) who have home made soups, sandwiches, sweets, lattes etc. Across the street from them is a grocery store (IGA). The staff here at The Wilshire are wonderful. And it's quiet here. One of the best places I have stayed for sure.

Although this hotel appears decent from the outside, the perks on the inside are not so good. Here is our list......institution bed pad and sheets that do not fit (thin), a wifi system that does not work as it is overtaxed, and an apparent bonus of Roku TV that does not service either as it is overworked and buffers constantly. So much for relaxing or being able to plan the next day. Clearly Naz doesn't like putting money into the asset. The air conditioner spews dust badly. See photos of the bed. Do not recommend.

Clean and Functional Clean, comfortable bed. The desk is not able to be used if you want to watch TV and work. The huge TV is hung on the wall and is very nice, but the narrow desk with basic plastic chair is right underneath the TV. If you are okay with using a laptop on your lap on the bed, it works. Also, there is no coffee in the room or in the lobby, but there is an A & W next door and a Tim Horton's a block away.

No parking, wifi was not working. Staff was not around

Make a different choice :-( Check-in begins at 3 pm. We tried to check in at that time, so we could drop off our luggage and go hiking locally. The front doors were locked; nobody around. So we do our hike and come back at 5 pm. A young lady says she is "just watching" the front desk for manager, and she doesn't actually know how to process check ins. Tells us to come back in an hour. So we wander around town, and come back. After waiting 20 more minutes, a very surly manager shows up. He checks us in, but tells us room hasn't been cleaned yet. Tells us to come back in an hour. So we cool our heels at the fast-food place next door, and watch as a cleaning lady-with her own vacuum-drives up and leaves after a little while. So at 7:20 pm, we can finally get into our room. Nobody at front desk then; and nobody at front desk in morning; just put key cards in a box. There were no vending machines. What we infer from all this is that they cannot afford maid service except in rooms that will actually be used that night; and that they didn't pay the vendors so the drink/snack machines got pulled. Room was threadbare. Only 2 pillows, both very small and very lumpy. This hotel will probably be out of business soon. I noticed that from the time we made our reservation (7 mo. in advance) to our stay, their reviews have dropped drastically. Sadly, there are few other choices in this town...but din't choose this one!

Single queen room. Quiet. 3 night stay. Did not make up room or restock shampoo/ soap/ TP. Overall it was okay.
