Ivy House Cornwall B&B

The property is located at the top of St Austell town in a lovely tranquil and quiet area. The location is perfect for touring Cornwall in the car and it’s a 2 minute walk from St Austell railway station. We stayed in room 1. It’s very spacious and we loved the decor especially the vintage touches. There’s also a really good power shower in the en-suite. The breakfasts are very good indeed with a good choice inc vegetarian options. James the owner was the perfect host and all in all we had everything we needed provided and preempted. The garden and rest of the property are lovely too. I’d love to go back again. Thank you James!

Comfortable, well appointed period property, well run by a pleasant, friendly and attentive host. It has a real home from home feel to it. The property is situated in a secluded, peacefull location just a stonesthrow from the station although nothing could be heard of the trains.

Very convenient to the rail station. If walking, be prepared to walk uphill upon arrival. Beautifully furnished house. Lovely grounds. Accommodating host. Delicious large breakfast. Clean rooms. Best of all is the gorgeous view from the small bedroom.

Just a short walk from St Austell station, gorgeous house surrounded by camellia bushes in Spring. Rooms are well equipped, clean and so serene. I felt very relaxed here. Didn't want to leave! Excellent host - who makes FANTASTIC breakfasts every morning. Would 100% stay again! Thank you so much James!

I doubt you'll find anywhere in St Austell that can beat this place. Very close to the station and a short walk into St Austell town. Charlestown is a 35-40 minute walk away, we paid £8.50 -ish for a taxi back to Ivy House. The Eden Project is accessible by a bus from the train station, so you're conveniently connected - we spent a whole day there. The B&B is beautiful, in a very quiet area with a lovely garden. My friends and I agreed we quite immediately felt more relaxed and at peace having travelled from busy cities. The rooms are spacious, nicely decorated, with nice big windows. Great water pressure in the shower. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, and the vegans in the group were very happy that vegan options (e.g. porridge, pancakes, cooked breakfast with Linda McCartney sausages, oat milk for drinks) were offered routinely rather than requiring a special request in advance. The 'vegan egg' was new to us and quite delicious. James the host couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating and we can't speak highly enough of him. If you're looking for a wholesome and restorative few days away, whether solo or with people you're close to, this is the spot for you. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

My wife and I were very pleased we found The Ivy House B&B. The host was exceptionally welcoming and Room 1 which were given was comfortable with a lovely view of the garden with rhododendrons and camellias in full flower. Rather limited bathroom facilities but still quite sufficient. We were served a really good breakfast which we thoroughly enjoyed. Plenty of parking space near the house and an easy walk into St Austell to get a meal in the evening. The house is full of interesting items of furniture collected from mainly Asia together with some fascinating paintings and sketches. Well worth spending time viewing them.
