Fantastic rooms that feel really luxurious. The large freestanding bath is a great plus and it was silent and pitch black at night - great for a restful escape from the city.

Very nice place and great bar with log fire, so great during the winter evenings. The food only average with a small menu. Staff friendly and helpful during stay

I stayed in the shepherd hut with my dogs as a birthday treat to myself. It was so comfortable and luxurious - for me and my dogs! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They were kind and friendly, and made my trip so very special. The hut had everything I needed - lovely bed, kettle, fridge, and complimentary drinks. The decor is gorgeous and the shower great. The hut is quiet and private, tucked away at the end of the garden under the trees. I woke each day to sweet birdsong. Even though it was very hot when I stayed, inside, the temperature was perfect. The food and drinks in the pub are also delicious, and the service excellent. Would recommend to everyone!

I recently visited with some family on a Monday evening and really feel I need to email and tell you about my experience. When we arrived we were immediately greeted by Carole and she absolutely could not of been nicer. We were shown to a beautiful table in the back area with plenty of space for my granddaughter to play with her toys. We were given menus and drinks menus and brought water straight away. Carole also brought paper and crayons for Ellie (my granddaughter) Despite being very busy Carole's customer service was excellent to taking drinks order to food arriving on the table. What really stuck with us is that my Ellie was wearing a dress up princess dress which carole commented on and told her she looked beautiful and asked if she was secretly a princess to which of course Ellie said yes! After that whenever she came to our table she bowed in front of her and called her princess.SHE LOVED IT. It really was a great interaction to watch. I also have to say I feel the food has improved immensely and every dish was fantastic and the children's portions were huge. I will with out a doubt recommend Artist residence to whoever we can. It really was great compared to the last time we came. I realise you probably get emails like this all the time but I feel Carole should be recognised for her great service as she went above and beyond for us and nothing was too much trouble. I realise most companies believe that's what staff are paid for but she went above that not just for us but we watched her with other tables and she was the same with everyone. Perhaps a bunch of flowers or bottle of wine as people like that need to be recognised and of course a beer for the chef as because of him we will be back. If this is something you don't do please do email back as I would like to do something to show her we appreciate what she done. I really do think Artist residence is a company to watch and great things will happen. Watch this space!!!

What a fabulous little place to stay. Stayed here for an impromptu one night trip and thoroughly enjoyed it. The pub and rooms are tastefully styled, the bed was extremely comfortable, the food was lovely (especially breakfast!) and this place oozes charm. The service from Carole during our visit was second to none. Hostess with the mostess! The most welcoming person you could imagine. Fabulous hospitality from the moment we arrived. Will most definitely be coming back! It’s so peaceful, tucked away on a quiet country lane which just tops off the chilled atmosphere sitting in the gardens enjoying a drink and food.

The shepherd's hut was a dream come true, with our own front garden area. We didn't even need to leave the hotel at all. The staff were amazing, all of them were so friendly and made us feel at home. I would definitely come back for some peace and quiet away from London!
