This is a hard review to balance. I wasn’t sure whether to go 2, 3 or 4 stars to be honest, but here we go: We stayed here for 3 nights to see some wildlife, & we saw lions, cheetah, elephants, giraffe, hippo, buffalo, wilderbeest & lots of other stuff too. The guides are great & you get a 6am drive & one at 3pm. It’s a fenced reserve so you know that eg. they have 5 elephants, 5 hippo & 4 giraffe somewhere….so it’s not like a full safari & you know things are “somewhere”, but still. We saw everything & it was all good, pics were great. The food & drink there is excellent and the lodge is in a beautiful spot on a river. All that is what we went for & what we got, very good - so that’s why 4 stars. Here comes the bad bits: we booked an Exec tented lodge with jacuzzi, supposedly the best rooms they have. It was dirty. It had stained carpets, the windows were filthy & clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time….& the jacuzzi filter was full of black mould. A proper health hazard, & I was frankly appalled by the danger of it. I have to say “management” handled this incredibly badly when it was pointed out: •“It’s fixed now” (it wasn’t…) •“We’ve got new parts coming next week” (great, thanks for that…) •“You’re clearly super, super picky” (errrr, more like we don’t want to end up in hospital?) Add this to a pile of bricks you had to drive around at the entrance and you get the impression there’s a massive lack of any attention to detail? This could be fantastic if there was anyone who cared about the guest experience & made sure some of the tiny basics were done (like salt in the salt cellars on the restaurant tables, hot water in the lodge toilets, & soap in the soap dispensers, that kind of thing….). As a side issue, if guests are paying £1000 a night, are you really so bothered they might steal some shower gel worth £3-4 that you need to attach it to the wall? It’s more than a bit “small time”? The problem when you get an issue like the jacuzzi filters is you start to see everything else that they haven’t focussed on too, which shouldn’t be the case if you have any eye for detail around the property? Did we have a good time - yes Did we get some money back - yes Did we have any faith Management were on top of things & had their eye on the ball - no If you’re after a quick fix safari game view this is ok, but it would be much better all round if they were actually bothered a bit more?

The most amazing welcome by the hosts. They were very friendly and ensured we had all we needed. Made dinner reservations for us, made recommendations to enhance our roadtrip, offered secure parking and a pool for a refreshing dip after a long journey. The room was very comfortable and breakfast was delicious 😋

The service at this lodge was outstanding. We received a welcome drink on arrival. A lot of help with picking and booking restaurants in the local area. They were friendly and welcoming making us feel at home. The rooms were lovely, although the bathroom was not quite as attractive and the shower pressure was not ideal. I believe they are doing some refurbishment to the rooms so this may all be different in a few weeks time. The grounds were lovely, the breakfast room was lovely and the kids particularly liked the resident cats who welcomed being stroked. I would say that the setting and the service is deserving of five stars and the only reason we rated it overall is four stars is simply because of the room/bathroom.

We had such a wonderful stay at Garden Route Game Lodge. The staff was so friendly and we felt home from the first minute. The bungalows were very nice and cozy. Bathroom big and lightful. Food was excellent! I can highly recommend the romantic dinner for two - amazing place and very romantic atmosphere! Our stay was outstanding and we want to come back sometimes...... Thanks for everything!

호텔 위치는 바다 옆에 매우 좋으며 해변은 해변입니다. 주차장 입구는 무료이며 안전합니다. 주변에 슈퍼마켓이 있습니다. 영업 시간에주의하십시오. 우리가 도착했을 때는 일요일이었고 대부분의 상점은 문을 닫았습니다. 방은 깨끗하고 세면대는 뜨겁고 차가운 물을 분리하는 데 익숙하지 않습니다. ～ 돈을 신경 쓰지 않거나 발코니에서 바다 전망을 예약하는 것이 좋습니다. 아침 식사 옵션도 매우 풍부합니다. 우리는 그날 카레 치킨을 먹었습니다. 호텔 옆에 있는 박물관, 이곳에 처음 상륙한 포르투갈인 몇 킬로미터 떨어진 곳에 등대가 있습니다.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Earthbound Guest House during our trip to Oudtshoorn. We chose this guest house primarily for its proximity to the meeting point for the Meerkat Adventure experience, which is just a short 10-minute drive away. Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly Ayla, who provided us with all the essential information about our stay and helpful tips about Oudtshoorn. To our delight, we also received a complimentary room upgrade. The location of Earthbound Guest House is convenient, with supermarkets and restaurants nearby—perfect for grocery shopping or dining out. Breakfast was delicious, the room and bathroom were spacious, and the WiFi connection was reliable. The bed was also incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. As a lovely touch, we were served dessert wine upon arrival. Overall, it was a truly pleasant stay, made even more special by Ayla's warm hospitality. We highly recommend Earthbound Guest House to anyone visiting Oudtshoorn!
