The Devonshire Arms Hotel at Bolton Abbey

We had a wonderful three night stay here. The rooms are a good size and very comfortable. The food is well prepared and delicious and its number one asset is the quality of the staff who are all professional, friendly and helpful. Situated in beautiful countryside with great level walks to Bolton Priory or if you want you can get up onto the hills. The hotel has a clean and well run spa with treatments, pool, steam room and sauna. The thing that surprised us was that the hotel has activities each morning and we signed up for the tour of the estate with Jane. It was fantastic to spend time with somebody who knows so much about the local area, the estate and food heritage in the region. Highly recommend taking this tour when you visit.

The staff just make this beautiful hotel. From the rooms to the surroundings this place is my favourite! Food fantastic. Breakfast fantastic. It's simply stunning. I really can't recommend it enough. Gorgeous everything!! No stuffiness just fantastic all round .

A nice hotel but staff lacked any care!!! On checking in we were not told of the restaurants one was on the other side of hotel (brasserie) we had no idea it was there!!! We explained we didn’t want breakfast but were told we’d been charged for it and there was nothing we could do. Room nice, meal was just ok, salmon and mash had a lot of water at bottom of plate. Jewel in your crown is Ellie at the spa. What a lovely lady had a fantastic treatment and Ellie was so helpful and knowledgeable!!! Well done x

Let's start with the positives.Beautiful area for walking .Staff are excellent.Excellent table service breakfast. Now the negatives. We had two very small dogs with us so didn't expect too much luxury but the room we had was very cramped, the bathroom tiny, no better than and maybe no as good as a Travel Lodge. The restaurant is closed for an indeffinate period of time. We made do with the brasserie (cafe style layout) which has a limited menu. Biggest negative is the outrageous pricing. Just way out off the scale for what it is. We get the strong feeling that the hotel has had grander days but has been subject to a major cost cutting exercise while retaining the same pricing structure. Visit by all means the beautiful area but don't expect too much 5 star treatment at the hotel.

Amazing staff and service. The food was beautiful served well. There was an extensive menu which had plenty to choose from. Overall a lovely meal

Absolutely brilliant hotel, comfy bed and pillows, the bar did amazing cocktails. Great weather. Will come back .. thank you xxx
