This may be the best place to stay, if you are visiting the far side of Long Island! It's on a beautiful quiet location overlooking a lovely river within walking distance of shops and restaurants, yet only a 5+ min. drive to several parks and other scenic spots for exploring the natural beauty of the island, as well as short car ferry rides to both the North and South Forks. Add the affordable price, pleasant bedrooms and common areas and Bill's friendly and extensive knowledge of the area, this place is a winner! Don't miss the Mashomack Preserve, Sag Harbor, and the Landcraft Gardens in Mattituck.

My brother and I stayed here mid-week in April 2016. We were visiting Shelter Island after not seeing it in over 35 years. We were pleased to see that not much had changed!!! My brother had the king-size room in the front middle of the house, and I had the other king-size room. The king size room that I was in had an old fashioned tub for showering/bathing. If stepping over the wall of a high tub would be a problem for you, this is not the room you should choose. This is clearly in the room description but if you have any questions or concerns, you should call Bill about it. He would be happy to give you more details!!! The accommodations are extremely clean and comfortable. Bill is an excellent host and is happy to provide any information he can help with. Both my brother and I prefer a hot breakfast (I can't eat most breakfast carbs or sugars), and we knew ahead of time that Bill provided coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cereals, banana bread and other light items. We both had our coffee and tea in the beautiful breakfast room while planning our day. Then we headed out to get a hearty breakfast before exploring the island. I would highly recommend staying at "House on Chase Creek." My brother and I would love to bring our families next time!

We were on the Island for a business trip and was pleased to stay at the Chase Creek house. We have stayed here in the past on previous trips, and it is always a great stay. The home is charming and welcoming. The front porch has a swing to sit and watch the ducks on the creek while you have your morning coffee. It is such a peaceful location, that is walking distance to restaurants and local stores. Bill was a very attentive and gracious host. Without our asking him, he upgraded us to the room with the view of the creek. It was a real treat for us. It had a fireplace for the cold evenings. Very relaxing after a hard day of work. This place is a gem. Beautiful home on the water, great homey feel with a nice sunny game room. It is a short walk to the charming town. Room was well appointed, bed was comfortable and the owner was friendly. This island has a great feel and is really worth a visit.

This was our second visit to House on Chase Creek, the first being in 2018. We stayed a couple nights at the very beginning of July as to avoid the rush of summer tourists. We were the only ones staying here those couple of days, so it was very very quiet! While we came to SI to bike around the island, it was so peaceful spending mornings sipping tea on the front porch swing overlooking the creek. Bill was a wonderful host as always, and his pup was a welcome form of entertainment! He was very flexible and accommodating. Coffee and tea are available 24/7. Breakfast is no longer served since the pandemic, but there are so many good breakfast options less than five minutes' walking distance. Bill has local restaurant menus out and is a wealth of knowledge regarding the dining options around the island. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the air conditioning was certainly appreciated! The bathroom was spacious in our room and we had a nice view of the creek. This is definitely our go-to lodging for when we visit Shelter Island, and we look forward to our next stay at House on Chase Creek!

I can't say enough about Bill and the House On Chase Creek, Bill was a great host who took the time to explain the room and all the other features of the property along with great Shelter Island food locations. The property itself is stunning and has great views of the creek itself and the beautiful scenery around it. I cannot wait to come back this summer!- James
