Freina Mountain Lifestyle Hotel

Nice atmosphere but wine measuring is ridiculous and a fregatura! the atmosphere was ok but quite noisy as it was a school holiday week. I ordered a glass of wine (there were several different wines by the glass at different price levels from 5 euros to 8 euros) the glass of wine arrives and i dont see the bottle that the wine came from and it was served in a glass with a line etched in it. Barely can get 4 sips from the glass before you need to order another one. considering the prices of the second dishes are an average of 28 euros each i find this measuring to have cheapened the restaurant. the food was ok but not what you would expect from the prices. we unfortunately will not be going back there and i do hope they change the way they serve their wine and also wait staff which were not very pleasant.

Just finished a 10 day skiing holiday at Hotel Freina. This is a wonderful family run hotel and is very conveniently located in Val Gardena, ski-in, ski-out, with a poma lift a few meters away to allow you to ski down to the Ciampinoi lift. Rooms are modern chalet-chic, and quite comfortable. Spotlessly clean. Breakfasts are plentiful, and very good, with the option of having à la carte eggs, etc. prepared for you. Really excellent caffè (NOT coffee capsules). We had booked on a B&B basis, but did enjoy a few dinners in the restaurant, which is quite busy and quite good (also very decently priced). The ski room is very convenient, well equipped with boot warmers, but does not offer individual lockers. During our stay, complimentary tea and baked goods were served in the afternoon for hotel guests, a nice touch when you are returning from your ski day. Complimentary cocktails and hors d’œuvres for guests were served on Sunday evenings. These little things count and make you feel cared for during your stay. I would highly recommend Hotel Freina for a ski holiday in the Dolomites.
