This Parador is not easy to find in a mass of small streets but when you arrive it is beautifully situated in a lovely historic square. There is parking behind the hotel which is really useful. The hotel is a wonderfully interesting historic building. Our room was fine except for a persistent smell from the bathroom drains, solved by running water into the system. The view of the square was lovely if noisy.

We visited the restaurant of this Parador and it was an awesome experience: the food was beautiful, the service excellent and the atmosphere was great. We did not stay at the Parador (just passing through Santo Domingo) but the facility looked extremely impressive and full of character. All Paradores in Spain are great places!

This was a wonderful overnight stay in the Rioja region on our travels through northern Spain. On arrival the reception staff were efficient and friendly, and able to sort out some secure parking around the corner from the hotel premises. Our very comfortable bedroom was more like a small apartment with a hall, living room, bedroom and bathroom. The ground floor dining rooms, bar, lounge, and foyer areas have maintained the ambiance of a grand old building, but with a touch of luxury. We took the half board package enabling us to enjoy a superb dinner in the fine dining restaurant where there is an extensive choice on the menu. I can recommend the potato and chorizo stew starter, the duck as mains, and the pear and almond waffle as a dessert. The morning breakfast provided the usual good selection expected in a high standard hotel. This parador (there is another in the town) is located in the heart of this small historic town in the plaza adjacent to the main church. We arrived on a Saturday and were fortunate to enjoy watching the excitement of a wedding taking place from immediately outside the hotel. A very enjoyable stay.

This parador is situated in the center of Santo Domingo on the Camino opposite the cathedral which is unique. The standard of the parador is very good and the restaurant up to the usual parador standard.

Spacious rooms, comfortable beds and helpful, friendly staff who helped with everything from reserving tables at restaurants to showing us where the bus stop was. The included breakfast was diverse enough to satisfy the hungriest and fussiest of travellers.

The Parador is located in the former hostal for pilgrims on the Santiago pilgrimage route on the main square of this town in La Rioja. As such it is opposite the cathedral. The hotel has a large underground garage for guests and an open air car park close by. This is important as access to the old town by car is very limited. Rooms are mainly in a more modern extension and are comfortably decorated in the traditional style. There is an attractive hall where you can have a drink and a very good restaurant serving beautifully prepared local dishes. Very enjoyable.

Over the past few years, the quality of the Paradors seems to have declined. Happily this does not seem to be the case here. Whilst there is a clear Parador feel to all Paradores, this one compares well with other high end hotels. The building itself is interesting and predictably well maintained. We were given a small suit which was more than adequate for our needs. We did not eat here (we ate at Los Caballeros opposite - highly recommend), but our experience of the kitchen at breakfast and for a light supper was good. Our only complaint was access by car - the directions on the road signs are wrong, and the directions given by the parador are poor. Once we knew what to do, it was in fact easy - we just spent a lot of time driving around a one way system!! Certainly a Parador to recommend.

The room is not clean. Dust bunnies on the floor and other unidentified objects. No air conditioning. Lots of empty rooms but they put a family with baby right next to us and it’s like they are in the room with us. Paper thin walls are not my idea of a good hotel.
