Jill and Charles are so wonderful! They served an Organic, big breakfast each morning, they have the most beautiful area for the hot tub nestled in the woods. I slept wonderfully every night. I won’t stay anywhere else when I come back to visit the islands.

What a great place to stay! The bedroom was beautiful and my wife and I listened to an audiobook that evening there. We sat out on the front deck and enjoyed a woodpecker while having drinks and eating snacks. We also spent some time in the hot tub, which was just magical because of the wooded surroundings and its set a little back from the house so there's lots of privacy. Plenty of firewood for the fireplace and other guests were congenial to share that space with. In the morning we were given a delicious breakfast and enjoyed the company of the owners who also prepared the meal. All in all a relaxing time.

This historic inn is an oasis of peace and utter quiet, so welcome after the noise and commotion of big city life. The innkeepers, Charles and Jill, are warm, welcoming, and unobtrusively attentive. My stay over Chris**as included a snowstorm and two island wide power outages. Charles and Jill met this crisis so resourcefully and were so attentive to my comfort. The power outage, in a way, was like a trip back in time, with the soft glow of candlelight illuminating the beautifully furnished antiques filled rooms. They spoiled me with creative, flavorful vegan breakfasts with a very welcome variety of fresh fruits. The view from the large windows in the breakfast room was an enchanting snowscape with birds coming to the feeders, including some hardy little hummingbirds. I enjoyed the conversations with my hosts when they joined me over coffee. My suite was spotless, and I enjoyed watching my favorite BBC series on the DVD player, tucked in my warm cosy bed. The extreme below freezing cold outside kept me indoors, where I enjoyed sipping tea and reading my book in the lovely drawing room. It was so peaceful and restful.

I can't say enough about how wonderful our stray was. Instead of feeling like a guest, Jill and Charles made us feel like good friends welcomed into their home. The breakfast they made us every morning was outstanding even with my dietary restrictions. The bed was super comfy and I adored all the beautiful antiques. This IS the place to stay!!

Already planning a return trip. A destination in itself. Northern Flicker Suite tastefully appointed with Craftsman Era decor. Comfy bed, sumptuous breakfast, lovely hosts. Conveniently located near Eastsound and North Beach. Short drive to Moran State Park and Turtle Mountain. Don't forget to make a ferry reservation!

Exceptional B&B. Delightful hosts; yummy and creative breakfasts; our room was cozy and charming. A peaceful sanctuary with lots of positive energy.

With many of life's best experiences, the whole is far greater than the sum of the parts. To enjoy a Monet painting to the max, do you get your eyeball to the canvas and study each brush stroke? I stand back, give it time, and let the image and color flow. (Okay, a little over the top maybe, but bear with me.) That's how I think of our stay at the Kangaroo House. It was, quite simply, perfect for where it is and what we wanted. The house has history; I won't go into it, no way I could tell it as well as Charles does. There is a reason for the name. Be sure to check the pictures on the walls in the first room and the library. Before you even reach the front door, you'll cross one of the truly outstanding front porches in the Lower 48. The common areas and rooms are scrupulously clean and well-maintained. Our bed was very comfortable - that matters to us - and I did not hear one sound after we turned in, any of the three nights. Breakfasts were brilliant, delicious and creative. Charles and Jill are wonderful people - warm, welcoming, intelligent, with a wealth of experiences (which shows, among other places, in their recipes). Jill is a published poet; I suspect she is deeply embedded in Orcas Island's arts scene. It would enrich my life to have them as friends in any setting.

Th e proprietors here offer not only a lovely, comfortable place to be, with great attention to detail, but encourage and participate in a wonderful conversational environment at breakfast. We have always met interesting people. Most exceptional, a divine, unique three-course breakfast every morning that rivals any you could get at a gourmet restaurant, often using home-grown items.

Quiet and quaint B&B, lovely grounds. Its close to the main shopping district. The breakfast was fantastic and they ask specifically for any allergies or dislikes. I would definitely recommend and stay again.
