Absolutely fantastic hotel. The staff on reception are amazing. Always happy to help. Samoens itself is a little tricky to get to if you don’t have a car. We flew into Geneva and then used the official Grand Massif transfer service. So far as I could find, this was the only transfer company going to Samoëns. You can use public transport, but it looked a bit of a faff - think two trains and a bus. The GM transfer was a really good, if not a little expensive. We were a group of three friends and had a large suite, which was fantastic. The attention to detain is just brilliant. Our room had a big double bedroom with en-suite. There was then and lounge area with dinning table and kitchen, as well as a second bathroom and toilet. Stairs took you up to an open planned upstairs bedroom with four single beds. The kitchen was really well equipped. It had absolutely everything you needed. They even had a little welcome box of cleaning bits, including dishwasher tablets and rinse aid. You can preorder bread and pasties for the following morning from reception the night before, and then you don’t have to go out first thing. Just brilliant. The room had everything you could possibly want and more, including slippers and dressing gowns. We hired our skis from Xtreme Glisses, which is at the bottom of the main lift, so we were able to leave our stuff there and not have to use the ski busses. I think it would be a little too far to walk in ski boots, but there is storage facilities at the hotel. The spa is as amazing as it looks in the pictures, although I think the hot tub could do with being a little warmer, but a really great space. There’s very little in the way of nightlife/apres-ski, but we were happy with maximising our skiing day. The best meal we had was the ‘set’ menu Neige et Roc. Three amazing courses for just 42 euros, and only a short walk from the hotel. To be honest, everything is walking distance, as the hotel is so central, but super quiet at night. The whole hotel is really well decorated/designed and feels warm and cosy from the moment you arrive. Everything is spotlessly clean. I had read that the rooms are not serviced, but this was not the case, and we were offered free daily service at check in. Overall, a perfect ski hotel and I would happily recommend to anyone.
