The experience is truly what you make it. Breakfast was always a delight with variety and taste. Dinner in the main buffet needs much work for an acquired taste. Also, utensils and food replenishments are a slow process which leaves you waiting longer just to eat. The great benefit was that the meals at dinner in the a la carte restaurant was really good but had smaller portions and it is difficult to get appointments. This resort has great potential but with limited amenities. The water activities were such a bonus but there were not many equipments and some needed repairs. Decameron's true gem is their staff, I truly hope they realize that. Overall I give this experience a 7.5 or 8.

I'm giving this a terrible rating due to a problem I had with my booking. I booked through priceline an oceanfront cottage. When I arrived of course I was told room wasn't ready. In conversation with the desk person she mentioned a regular room (cheapest category). I mentioned no that I had 2 emails from priceline stating oceanfront cottage which is what I paid for. I showed the desk person my emails and was told they would check on it and to check back in a couple hours. I go to the bar without a room and check back around 4pm. Still not resolved, now I'm told to email my confirmation to a couple different emails of people in the office so I did and check back with them soon. I give it another couple hours and check back about 6pm. Still no resolution and I'm told they cannot give me the oceanfront cottage I paid for and the manager was not in that day but I could speak with her the following day. Since its after 6pm and I need a room I take the room they gave me which in the parking lot, about as close to the main road as I could get. A regular room as far away from the oceanfront cottage I booked and paid for as you can get. I go back to the front desk the following day to speak to the manager and they refused to give me the room I paid for. The explanation was I didn't pay enough as I booked through priceline and I could only get the oceanfront cottage if I paid to them NOW several hundred more dollars. After spending most of my 2nd day on the phone with priceline and emailing everyone under the sun and numerous trips between my room and the front desk....they refused to change my room without additional payment directly to them. In my opinion, this should have been THEIR problem not mine. Their contract with priceline and the rates charged through priceline is not my fault. The room I booked should have been guaranteed. I've been to Jamaica 30 plus times and I have always booked through a 3rd party. I have NEVER had this problem with any other hotel EVER. I even ask if I could just get an garden view cottage instead of the standard room but was told no. Some of the front desk staff were as nice as they could be about the situation and some of them including the manager could not be bothered with the situation. Overall, although the resort could use an overhaul I made the best of the stay. Most of the staff were accommodating and although there could have been more food selections, there was always enough. I'm not a very picky person but I could have booked the standard room (which is what I received) for a lot less than what I paid for an oceanfront cottage. What made the trip most tolerable was the other guests that I met there and became friends with. It didn't help though that one of the other guests advised me that they complained of noise in the first room they received and were promptly moved to another room. This is a wonderful location and resort. It is older, shows age but the staff is warm, friendly, helpful and it is clean. It is a 3 star hotel with a 5 star beach view. It is chill, and basic and you will have a great time if you come with an open mindset and lower your expectations. You knew what you were reserving so don't invent stories like you are a child. Euros you need to be more respectful to the ALL workers, slavery is over and if your employers knew how you acted on vacation you would rethink how you treat others instantly. You know who you are. All in all I shall return.

Beach hut rooms were clean and comfortable and the sea views are stunning. This is like a little paradise. Not sure what people find to complain about. The complex is older and a little tired but this only adds to its charm. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. All the staff work so hard and are friendly when approached. The food is a little repetitive but you would never go hungry and there is plenty of variety. Overheard other UK guests talking about having to order Pizza to be delivered to the reception but not sure why you would book an all inclusive holiday if you are a fussy eater to this extent and then blame it on the hotel. It is a 3*** establishment and despite this goes above and beyond on every level

I stayed at the Decameron in Runaway Bay 22nd Feb - 8th March 2025. For me this place is perfect. I like a basic, does what it says on the tin hotel! I had already managed my expectations. The little cottage was amazing. There were three of us and we had an upstairs. We stayed in 45, which I think may be the best location. On one side you can step on to the beach and jetty bar (under construction) and the other is the quiet bar. Cleaner was lovely, did find on the days she was off we were missed or didn't get enough towels. We did have to call reception a few times to have them replenished. But I have no gripes with that. I loved the food, but I eat a lot of carribean food at home. Yes at times there wasn't a lot left, but I often ate quite late! I liked filling myself up on a big breakfast :D! The staff in the dining room were attentive. Yes you might wait for cutlery to be provided at times, but again I'm quite laid back so it wasn't an issue for me! The entertainment wasn't amazing every night, but you don't need it to be if you mingle with others. I will say I thought the majority of the entertainment was really good though, especially the MJ tribute and the drum steel band? The entertainment in the day was funny aswell. In the mornings my mum and aunt loved aqua fit with Jimmy! The aqua sports are also ace! I think its brilliant that it is built into an all inclusive - never had that before. I enjoyed falling off the paddle board haha. We completed some excursions with Paco, he is just outside the hotel and really fairly priced. We felt this topped off our holiday as we felt safe to explore local spots. I would recommend him - certainly! I think the location of this hotel is spot on, especially with local amenities such as pharmacy which I needed. I hear people's mixed reviews, but for me this is 100% a place I will return to. It ticked all boxes required! I appreciate I'm quite easy going and not difficult to please though! The grounds are also breath taking. I was in love!

Do Not stay here, the property is dirty. The food is either undercooked or over cooked. Lampshades are mouldy and damaged. Blinds were broken, towels stained, all the sunlounges were firlty and full of dirt. The snack bar wasn't open as it was damaged during the hurricane. Buffet didn't open on time. Tui rep wasn't at the resort at the expected times. The place is a mess do not waste you MONEY!!!!!!
