호텔 드 토이라스(Hotel de Toiras)

This is a gorgeous hotel in the best location in town. We had a lovely spacious room overlooking the Harbour and found the reception staff great but we felt the service, food and housekeeping were not up to scratch given the 5 star standard and nightly rate. I’m not a person who writes a review without thinking. We gave feedback 3/4 times during our stay but nothing improved. We were told that they were short of staff but really that’s no excuse when the rate remains high. Specifics: housekeeping: water replenished every day which was great ; minibar soft drinks provided free; one bath and hand towel per person provided and not refreshed at turndown service; bed linens not changed at all over 5 nights; sinks, floors and shower doors not cleaned at all; shower cap removed and not replaced despite two requests; kettle in room but no coffee or tea; WiFi never worked; room not serviced until late afternoon (4/5 pm ish). Service: very haphazard and unprofessional - sitting outside people watching is a pleasure but no staff. Had to go into bar to order and wait up to 15 mins for drinks to arrive; breakfast food decidedly underwhelming - no tomatoes for example. No natural yogurt one day. Cafe Creme ordered but black coffee arrived; truly awful omelette overcooked, rolled up on plate. No garnish. Tired fruit salad. Disappointing. With some imagination and TLC this could be a real gem but sadly not in reality yet.

A wonderful New Year’s Eve stay. We were very well looked after. Lovely ambience. Attention to detail in all matters. The room with a view of the harbour was gorgeous. We enjoyed our stay immensely - a very good place to celebrate New Year’s Eve!

The location of this hotel is unbeatable, a wonderful view of the cobblestone seafront and the marina; we were lucky to have a bedroom with three front and two side windows overlooking this beautiful vista, the hotel is small enough to make you feel like a special guest and the level of luxury is understated and refined; service is relaxed and friendly, overall a lovely experience, especially sitting outside the front of the hotel on the luxurious sofas, watching the world walk by

Fabulously located and beautifully designed hotel. The views from the bedroom windows over the port were wonderful. the hotel kindly park your car for you. For me, the best hotel on the Island. Thank you

Best hotel stay experience ever, hotel service is more than excellent. Food/Drink provided are also the best quality.The location is fantastic and the views on the St Martin de Re harbour from our room were breath taking. The attention to every detail from the quality of the interior decoration to the standard of breakfast are exceptional. The staff will book restaurant/daily activity/etc and will do their best to meet the guest expectation. Congratulation. Well done.

The hotel is lovely, perfectly situated with great staff. Our bedroom was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable on the first floor overlooking the harbour. Valet parking was very efficient . We stayed just two nights but wish it had been longer.

Disappointed! It didn’t start well! No message with the code to get onto the harbour, then given an incorrect code, which took a member of staff to come and test it and then had to ask a bus driver for it. Then to find a couple who had the correct code, were checking in just in front of us - how did they get the right code?! Check in was ok, although we were left hanging around and not told our room was ready. Bar and restaurant service not the best! Left waiting at the bar - not even acknowledged for about 10 mins while other orders made and tidying up done. Breakfast - oh dear! Initial waiter, took the order by memory and got it wrong. Then when we asked another waiter for the missing pastry, told the pastry ordered had run out, so ordered a pain au chocolate. Then told had run out of croissants and we could have chocolate bread - erm that’s what we asked for; for the waiter to then turn up with a croissant in his hand and to announce he’d found one! Other guests told us they had had problems too. Check out - ok until the hotel tried to charge us for a dinner we hadn’t had - we only had one breakfast. It was removed from our bill. On the positive the hotel is as lovely as ever and the valet service was very good. If you are 5 star Hotel, the service seriously needs sorting out and quickly!

Beautiful hotel in a perfect location. The staff were extremely friendly and we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is recently decorated in traditional French style, and overlooks the lovely St Martin harbour, a stone’s throw from so many excellent restaurants.

Where to begin.. We visit Ile De Re every year with the family and normally rent a villa but as it was just my wife and I and our daughter we thought we would stay for a week at the Toiras.. It was completely faultless. The staff were all very kind and attentive and we really were incredibly well looked after from the very moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble. As always the food and service was simply first class and we had the most fantastic time..The rooms we had were completely heavenly.. Being a well seasoned traveller I am a bit fussy but I have no complaints here at all...I have stayed all over the world but the Toiras was as good as anywhere else I have stayed and I cannot recommend it highly enough.. A huge thanks to all the staff and chef for a fantastic time.. If only everyone could provide a service like here.. Jonathan Sainsbury
