Upon waking in the morning, I was disappointed that we arrived in the dark and had to leave early. The surroundings were picturesque with spring blossoms and rabbits everywhere. I’d also like to visit the Salomon museum. The room was clean , neat and fit for purpose.

Lovely overnight stay here. Comfortable quiet room and lots of choice for breakfast. Our room was a short walk from the Manor House, where the reception, bar and breakfast room were. All the staff were friendly and helpful. It was explained when we arrived that they didn’t serve food in the evening, which we knew from reading the advance email from them. But we were directed to a nearby fish and chip shop (which is what we wanted) and they offered to provide plates and cutlery if we wanted to eat it there or to have it delivered by one of the food delivery platforms. Very happy with our stay and would happily recommend.

Alarm bells Should have started ringing when we found last minute accommodation here on New Year’s Eve ! On arrival it was difficult to find where we were supposed to check in, Signposting needs attention . There was a sign up saying closed due to a private wedding , which again was a bit confusing. When we finally found where to check in ,the lady on reception was friendly . For the price we paid I did expect a nicer room not dorm style accommodation, again sign posting was poor, especially with the bad weather and in the dark . The room was ok ! Earplugs were a bit strange but there was a constant noise outside , from some sort of machinery ! The mattress was bigger than the bed , so felt like we would fall out if we moved too much ! The shower was small and not very warm . Next day , our attempt to access the free breakfast was very confusing , We were directed to a room where there was a huge wedding party, all on round tables. We felt like we had intruded and had to ask again where to get breakfast ! And where to sit . Once we found the buffet , in the same room , the choice of food was lovely and the sausages were the nicest I have ever tasted . For the money we paid , I did think coffee/ tea would be served , and more defined instructions given of where to actually find the Buffet. We only chose to stay here as the price including , free , breakfast seemed good value , against other hotels nearby . The rooms were similar to what you get in a travel lodge , maybe smaller . I doubt we would stay again , as it was overpriced and we did feel like we were Intruding on the wedding party . Breakfast did feel very uncomfortable..

We were unfortunately not in the main mansion but one of the student dorm style rooms which had paper thin walls. Every step, slamming door, or rolling suitcase in the corridor could be easily heard from your room. Its always a slightly unnerving moment when the hotel provides you with ear plugs! Cleanliness was okay at best, lot of dust and cobwebs around the entire room and bathroom.

The welcome was friendly, the elves were lovely and Father Christmas was excellent. The “pre-grotto” activities were nicely done. All in all it was a great experience. Also had the benefit of not being hectic or chaotic as so many “meet Father Christmas” experiences can be. Would go back again.

My husband and I had our wedding here two weeks ago and I cannot recommend the venue enough! Our friends and family stayed at the estate, many of which came from out of the country and everyone loved the comfort and style of the rooms, cottages, and amenities! I am so happy my (now) husband and I decided to have our wedding here! Everything about our big day was nothing short of perfect. From the moment we looked at this venue, I know it was everything we wanted. Our day of coordinator, Leah, was absolutely lovely. Not only is she attentive, but she is kind, thoughtful, and incredibly detail-oriented, making every part of the process seamless and stress-free. I can’t be more grateful to have had her by my side. The venue decorated for the holidays just days before our wedding, providing us with beautiful added decor and magic! My friends and family love the many rooms and areas to explore, including the museum, gardens, bar, terrace, etc. We opted for afternoon tea for our wedding breakfast and pizza for late night bites and our guests absolutely loved it! They offered options for our friends with gf, veggie, etc dietary requirements, and people raved about their meals! They have options for everyone. Between the beautiful venue, genuinely lovely staff, and delicious food and drink, I cannot be more grateful to Leah and everyone at Salomons. I got to live out my fairytale dream wedding here, and I am so excited for every couple who chooses to do the same. You will have the best day of your lives.
