Hôtel Aux Vieux Remparts the Originals Relais

Hôtel très joli avec un très bon accueil. Parking un peu petit mais difficile de faire autrement en ville haute.

Nous arrivons dans cet très bien situé certes, mais fortement déçus car il n’est mentionné nul part que tout l’espace détente est en rénovation (piscine, jacuzzi, etc). Nous sommes donc très déçus puisque nous avions choisi cet hôtel uniquement pour le spa. Je l’ai donc expliqué à 2 reprises, à 2 personnes différentes de l’accueil. Arrivés dans notre chambre une chaleur horrible est présente et c’est normal puisqu’un chauffage d’appoint électrique est allumé au maximum alors qu’il y a déjà un chauffage/clim au plafond pourquoi ?! Ensuite un monsieur totalement inconnu, réussi à rentrer dans notre chambre avec une autre carte magnétique, et pour finir nous allons quand même boire un verre dans le lounge bar de l’hôtel sur recommandation de l’agent d’accueil. Des prix exorbitants, donc nous prenons seulement une bière et un kir pour la somme de 12€. Nous aurions pensé que les boissons auraient pu être offertes, c’était la moindre des choses à faire mais non RIEN. Une chambre plus que moyenne pour une nuit à 135€, heureusement qu’il y avait une baignoire spacieuse pour sauver un peu le séjour.

5/5 Excellent Lovely hotel, with all the quirky charm of an old establishment, but including modern cons. Spent 1 night on route to CDG airport from Nice. Guest room 224 was perfect. Up 2 flights of stairs (no lift in this part of the hotel) in a quiet corner, spacious with comfortable king bed and high-end bedding, a window with nice view of some old town buildings, two skylights and a nice sitting area, Original A-frame rafters (so high ceiling) and a pristine, spacious bathroom. The bathtub with both faucet and handheld shower wand was superb – good water pressure, spacious bath for relaxing, and fluffy absorbent towels. No washcloths or face cloths, however. Half a point off for this. In room 224 there was a kettle with tea & instant coffee. 2 bottles of water were provided. The AC worked. The staff agreed to store small items in their refrigerator for us. It would’ve been convenient (and it seems a standard offering of virtually all hotels these days) to have a small fridge in the room. One does not want to run down to staff for every access to their items. The other half point was docked for this. The reception and service from staff was exactly what one would hope for. Make sure you get a map of the area at reception – there are English as well as French versions and they are indispensable for navigating the small town and appreciating what you are seeing. Provins is an authentic, medieval village, nicer in our view, than Aigues Mortes or St-Paul de Vence, if you have been to either. You must view the Tour Cesar and large church behind it lit up at night. We recommend this hotel.

Would whole-heartedly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Provins. We stayed here for a couple of nights in January 2025 and were blown away by the huge room complemented with a table and chairs outside. The room had amenities such as a safe, wardrobe, kettle with coffee and tea, as well as all the necessities for a few nights. The only missing appliances were an iron and a fridge. We were also really impressed by how helpful and friendly all the staff members at reception were, who went out of their way to accomodate us. It is also located just 5 minutes away from the centre and major sites. A free outdoor parking area is also available as part of the hotel. Only gave 4 stars on location as having visited in January, most sites in Provins were closed and the city was quiet, but we enjoyed walking around and visiting a couple of gardens, streams and the Provins Remparts during our day in the town.

Hotel, service, general atmosphere and restaurant are excellent. Certainly worth a prolonged visit to this lovely and friendly hotel and its medieval surroundings

A perfectly charming stop outside Paris. Beautiful village with a great vibe. Old school French charm.
