Hotel Villa Paraiso

Hotel may be nice but food certainly isn’t! No effort made on any level in the kitchen on any dish. Garlic bread starter was a few slices of processed Bimbo bread smeared with something very dubious. Didn’t get any better. First time I’ve failed to finish my desert. After 7 weeks in Nicaragua we were hardly expecting haute cuisine but this was particularly grim. Not cheap either!

I stopped in here today for a couple of drinks and some lunch. As it happened, I only stayed for one drink then went elsewhere. Despite the place being very quiet and 3 waiting staff, no one came over to my table, so after 10 minutes I went inside and politely asked for a drink. The women on their shift looked put out that I had interrupted them standing around chatting with each other. Finally a bottle of beer arrived. I was very hungry but no menu was offered to me and I thought maybe they weren't serving food at the time, until a group came in and were given food menus and ordered meals. By this time I'd decided that as the only place in Ometepe I had been that gave such poor service I was going to put my wallet back in my pocket and go up the street. I can always understand when a restaurant is busy it's hard to be served but what I can't understand is when one is quiet and the staff just can't be bothered. It's a shame because I could easily have spent 20 dollars here including a generous tip, but I ended spending only 2. Maybe they were just having an off day. So in conclusion, I can't review the food but, just to end on a positive note, the bottle of beer was cold

Large room with a comfortable bed, although there was nowhere to hang up clothes (just some shelving) so we pretty much lived out of our suitcases. Our room was quite far away from reception, so WiFi was very poor, but on the plus side it was very quiet. Hammock hanging in the seating area outside our room was very comfortable! There are various peaceful seating areas by the pool and overlooking the lake (there was very little beach when we were there because the water level in the lake was very high). The (outside) restaurant is good, with a varied menu, and portions are generous. When we were there, the reception area, including the bar, were closed up as soon as the restaurant had finished serving, so best to get your drink orders in early. Staff were helpful and friendly.

We stopped off here for lunch on our tour of the island. It s a really nice open air setting looking out into the lake and the wildlife is everywhere. One of our group spotted some white faced monkeys in a tree right across the road. The food was very good and reasonably priced.

O Villa Paraíso tem seus pontos positivos e negativos. A localização é, sem dúvida, o destaque: bem em frente ao belo lago Nicarágua, com uma vista incrível. O quarto, apesar de ser pequeno, era confortável o suficiente para uma estadia curta. No entanto, houve vários problemas que prejudicaram a experiência. O Wi-Fi era praticamente inútil, e a televisão não funcionava durante toda a estadia. Além disso, não havia água mineral no quarto, algo básico em um hotel. Outro ponto frustrante foi que o hotel não tinha troco para uma nota de 500 córdobas, o que me obrigou a dar gorjetas exageradas por falta de notas menores. O ar-condicionado do quarto funcionava mal, o que tornou as noites desconfortáveis. A energia elétrica caía frequentemente e, para piorar, havia um barulho constante durante a madrugada – acredito que era de um gerador. O restaurante, embora tivesse comida razoável, oferecia poucas opções e fechava cedo, às 8h30. No geral, o Villa Paraíso oferece uma boa localização e algum conforto, mas precisa de melhorias significativas nos serviços e infraestrutura para justificar a estadia.

Wunderschönes Kleinod auf Ometepe. Wir haben entspannte und erholsame Tage in der Villa Paradiso verbracht. Die Bungalows sind geräumig sauber und sehr schön landestypisch eingerichtet. Das Personal ist freundlich und die Chefin hat alle unsere Fragen schnell und kompetent beantwortet. Von der Terrasse des Restaurants hat man einen bezauberten Blick durch Palmen auf den Nicaraguasee. Es sind nur ein paar Schritte zum hauseigenen Pool und dem Strand und abends in der Hängematte liegend hört man das Rauschen der Wellen.
