Casa Swell Coronado A Unique Blend of Luxury and Nature in the Hearth of Coronado

We highly recommend Casa Swell for anyone visiting Panama, especially those considering a move to the Coronado/Gorgona area. I just read a review dated June 2 that describes Casa Swell in detail, so I want to primarily focus on Jay, who will be your host if you are lucky enough to stay there. Jay became our friend long before we arrived in Panama for our first trip, and we are so thankful for all he did for us on our journey to becoming Panama residents. The first time we connected with Jay (over WhatsApp), he took the time to begin explaining the area (and Panama) in detail. He asked about our goals and helped us understand what living near Coronado is really like. He gave us the confidence to forego the expensive relocation tours and instead discover Panama on our own. Since the area was likely a good fit for us, we opted to invest in an inexpensive tour that he provides. He is an EXPERT on the area and Casa Swell is ideally located. He also referred us to people who have helped us along the way. (We're moving to Panama in a few weeks.) We will always be grateful for what he did for us. Making a real connection with someone is so valuable instead of only reading FB posts and watching YouTube videos. Like Jay’s other reviewers, we loved our time at Casa Swell. The pool and outdoor kitchen are fabulous, and the rooms are spacious, comfortable, and cool. We were able to spread out and have a home base for our time in the area. Jay did a fantastic job designing every aspect of Casa Swell; each room provides privacy and special touches. He obviously has thought of everything, including security. We always felt safe in Coronado, especially at Casa Swell. For anyone considering a trip to Coronado, we suggest that you contact Jay at Casa Swell. You will not be disappointed.

I originally booked 5 nights at Casa Swell and ended up staying 2 more because the waves were hitting and the atmosphere was so relaxing. It’s close to Panama City and has the perfect mix of calm beach vibes and luxury boutique-style comfort. The rooms are clean, stylish, and super comfortable. The bed was great, the AC worked well, and little details made it easy to feel at home. The pool is just a few steps from the room, which invites for a quick dip or a calm swimm. I woke up every day to a view of the pool and sky. Even the tropical rain was soothing to watch...and one day, I spotted an iguana sunbathing by the pool, and later, maybe the same one (or its cousin) running for cover from the rain. Loved those little moments. There’s a small desk inside the room, which I used for journaling or editing videos in a cozy, inspiring spot. The bathroom had hot water, shampoo, conditioner, and a safe box for valuables. Each morning I walked to the nearby beach (about 6 minutes away) for yoga, and in the afternoons I enjoyed long beach walks and taking nature photos. Surfing here is excellent—the waves suit all levels, and the host helped organize lessons and boards. I brought my own board, but could’ve easily rented one too. The shared kitchen had everything I needed, and the mango trees in the garden were a sweet bonus for a quick snack. There are lots of chill-out areas: hammocks, sunbeds, comfy sofas...and everything feels calm and peaceful. I felt safe the entire time and really cared for. Casa Swell is a beautiful place to unwind, and definitely to return.

We recently stayed at Casa Swell and loved everything about it. Benjamin is super friendly and provides answers and information we needed quickly and thoroughly. We felt welcome right away and loved the communal atmosphere of the shared open spaces which include an outdoor full kitchen, pool and large lounge area with lots of places to hang out. The private rooms also feel private and have their own outdoor showers and variety of lounge areas outside the room. The beds and bathrooms were modern, comfortable and clean and we slept great. Breakfast is homemade and delicious. Bottom line: you can be as social as you want or get some space if you need it. We hope to go back!

The Duche family runs a well stocked and inviting place to stay in the heart of Coronado, within walking distance to the beach and a very short ride to stores and restaurants. We had wanted to check out the expat scene, look at properties and do a general “vibe check.” Benjamin (son) showed us the new construction the family is building (some units already purchased.) The design is impecable, with great, integrated indoor/outdoor concepts, beautiful lines, simple materials …. Really they were the most desirable units we saw of any kind in the whole area. Jay (dad) and Ben were a great source of info on anything you want to know about life in Coronado.

Really loved staying at Casa Swell, just steps from the beach! Jay and Ben are both lovely and very quick to respond to questions before/during/after your stay. Ask them about things to do in the area - they have many ideas and won’t hesitate to help plan your time in Coronado, and beyond! We indulged in daily breakfast, which included delicious fresh fruit & juice. Our room and common areas were both well maintained and clean. Overall hospitality and relaxation was 10/10. Can’t wait to come back soon.

Great pool, comfy rooms, wonderful outdoor kitchen and seating where everyone congregates and become friends. Jay is super friendly and knows the area so well. He gave us suggestions on where to go each day. He even planned an itinerary for us to tour around Panama. We're coming back for the third time and brining friends!
