우펜도 비치(Upendo Beach Boutique Hotel Zanzibar)

Service is slow, trying to get attention of the waitress but they ignore me and went their own way. The waitress who served me talks with an attitude when I was expressing my concern. Toilets had no water had to find someone to fix the problem so I can use, but it’s takes long as they had to fix another person to do that and for me had to leave and go to hotel to use washroom. Food is nice and it came right on time. No complains on that.

This small hotel is a wonderful experience if you are looking for total relaxation. The staff are super attentive and the manager goes beyond to make you feel welcomed. The accommodation is spectacular with private pool and views of the splendid ocean. We did not take any of the optional trips, but looked interesting. The walks along the beach is uninterrupted views of white sand and the bluest of seas. This places comes highly recommended for couples in need to total relaxation.

We did not stay at the resort however we frequented the restaurant and simply put the food is awesome. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all quality affordable experiences with amazing views! We enjoyed the food more at this location than our own 5 star resort around the corner and their sushi nights are really worth it. The staff are friendly, the location gorgeous and management is on it preserving the standards.

We visited Zanzibar with our family in October 2023. We visited Upendo where we had sundowners and after we had a great dinner with the best view on the Rock. After dinner my kids hang out with the belgian sheppards while looking over the ocean.

This was probably the nicest meal we had in Zanzibar! Super fresh, great flavours and a really nice option of food. Views are stunning and the vibe is great. Highly recommend! We even came back again since it was so much better than other nearby restaurants. I got the pad Thai both times and the piri prawns for starter and my fiancé had the beef tatatiki which was like a whole beef fillet and the butter chicken curry! Super delicious.

The quality of the food ia pathetic. Price are just crazy for the quality and quantity. We asked to seat in some table and the head of the restaurant told us that all were booked... But no signs on the table... We had to seat in a big round table for 10 pax while we were 5... Not the best... And some table were still empty when we left... Perhaps booked for next year.... We were preparing to go to the swimming pool with a baby. No body told us anything except when we were on the way to the swimming pool that a waitress told us to pay 10 000 TZH.... And on the bill you charge 20 000 TZH... Price is written nowhere... I call that stealing! We went to this place few years ago and it was really cool, charming, nice wipe and you were just willing to drink and relax... Now, i do not know what is happening but we were not welcome at ALL!!! I will never go back!

That place is not anymore as it used to be- it is totally overpriced with food quality not matching the price..they charge you for using a swimming pool despite the consumption..waiter told us a price for using a pool and then charged us double even though all our family clearly heard a price that he initially mentioned..overall a pitty for a place that used to be a cool spot to be..won't be back sadly..

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Upendo! Thanks to TrueAfrica for convincing me that we need to stay an extra night and unwind at the end of our vacation. The staff at Upendo was wonderful and we appreciated the care that they showed us!

We had lunch at Upendo Beach. Stunning views, fantastic food and average service. The team must realise the difference between service and hospitality. A smile and friendliness goes along way to ensure that a memorable moment is created. If training is done on hospitality and warmth extended to every guest, this restaurant will certainly be a number 1 in Zanzibar.
