Our first visit to Natal Spa for camping was very pleasant. The campsite is quite widespread and we did find that many of the sites were not level - due to the amount of rain and vehicles driving in the wet earth - it would be nice if the sites could be levelled off to make parking a caravan easier! The ablutions were lovely and clean and there is an abundance of hot water. The hot springs are a delight - three of the pools had been renovated after the January floods and we really enjoyed them. The others were in the process of being renovated and will be really good once completed. There are lots of pools - with many slides and much to keep children occupied. The putt-putt course could do with some restoration but we had a lot of fun on it anyway! I would certainly return - it was a great experience!!

We spend 8 days at Natal Spa utilizing the Freedom Day and Mayday public holidays and the fact that the schools were closed for the 3 days in between. We were 21 people on 5 camping sites and used tents, caravans and offroad trailers. The adventurous ones enjoyed the horse riding, zipline, super tube and archery. The little ones loved the free horse-riding, trampolines and the smaller free super tubes. A well-equipped playground and mini zipline kept them entertained when they were not cycling on their balance bikes. The manicured grass campsites were serviced daily with workers removing trash and cleaning the brick braais that are situated next to the light and water tap. We enjoyed the variety of hot and cold swimming pools that catered to everyone's preferred temperature. Sitting next to a campfire while enjoying the awesome stars was really relaxing. Although it rained some days and the evenings reminded us of the coming winter it was still very enjoyable. Work continued on restoring the damage at the picknick sites from the recent floods but was not a disturbance. Management visited the campsites twice a day to interact with campers. Excellent affordable food can be found at the poolside bar and at the Bistro. The ladies enjoyed a few spa sessions. Yes, the roads are bad in most areas of South Africa and the secondary tar roads between Paul Pietersburg, Vryheid and Piet Retief are no exception. Driving from Gauteng we took the Heidelberg, Standerton, Wakkerstroom, Piet Retief, Paul Pietersburg route. Lots to do in Wakkerstroom. Had lunch at the Red Rooster. On your way to Piet Retief and outside of Wakkerstroom you will experience humps and valleys in the road as you cross a hill. Drive slow. Just before PAul Pietersburg they were retarring a section of road and there were two detours. Drive slow. On our way back we took the N2 from Piet Retief as is was a Saturday and traffic was not that busy. Negatives: The resort is a 3-star resort with 5-star staff and activities. The ablutions were clean but tired. Ceiling damage in the poolside ablutions were not repaired yet from the storm damage. The thatch roof repairs were completed.

Stayed here on the drive from JHB to Mtinzini and it was a great decision. The self catering 4 sleeper was all we needed. We didn’t spend much time inside with all the things to do with our kids (4 year old & 19months)

Great stay at a great resort. Friendly reception staff however restaurant staff could do better in terms of being more polite.

Gooderson Natal Spa has all the amenities one would need for an all inclusive stay, one needs at least 05 days to enjoy all on offer. Only downside, which has nothing to do with the property, is the poor road maintenance, massive potholes across both lanes of the road, do not attempt driving there at night! Other than that a 5/5 for this property

The food is delicious & is made with such care. I had a fabulous full body massage, relaxing pedicure & I got a matt lip stick as a gift. The horse riding with "Bacon" was a lot of fun & the hot springs are to divine. The rooms are very clean and comfortable.
