일라웡 비치 리조트(Illawong Beach Resort)

Very close to beach, but price was a bit on the high side for age and condition of unit we had.

I live under the flight path so was not at all bothered by the occasional plane taking off or landing at the airport next door. If aircraft noise really bothers you, perhaps this isn't the best place for you to stay. Everything was neat and tidy and the bungalows well-equipped. Will happily stay here again.

For the price, you really can’t complain about this resort. The rooms are dated but clean. The beds are very firm, if you like that. I have some trouble sleeping when we stay here because I like a softer bed and pillows but my husband has no problem and waking up to the view of the water makes out worth it. Downsides are you have to tidy up really well before leaving or risk a cleaning charge and you can’t park next to your villa so we can’t leave our esky or anything else in the back of the Ute for extra storage like we usually would. If you book through Airbnb they’ll treat you completely diff than when you book through the resort. The real reason we stay here is the value for money, a 2 bed villa with an awesome pool within steps of the beach. A/C in every room. A pullout couch for our 3rd child. There’s a coin laundry on site that cleans and dries our family’s weeks worth of clothing in 45 min and that is a bonus! There’s never been a lot of people around when stay so it’s nice not to have a crowded pool or lots of noise. At the end of the day it’s fairly tidy and does the job, you wouldn’t find better value in Mackay if you have a bigger family and are on a budget. We love staying here!

My wife & I had 2 nights accommodation in a perfectly located beach front villa (number 16). Two bedrooms, well appointed amenities including both fans & a/c as well as a fully equipped kitchen. The well maintained grounds, tropical surrounds & spectacular views of the Pacific ocean, made this a very memorable visit. Friendly staff & a special thank you to the resort manager who looked after our needs. We highly recommend Illawong Beach Resort to couples & families & look forward to our next visit.

So sad to see such a good facility become rundown.

Perhaps one of the best locations in Mackay? Our spacious two bedroom apar**ent had gorgeous ocean views, and absolute beach access. Easy access to the city also. 😊
