I think most reviewers approach this place with the totally wrong mindset - it is NOT a Tourist Hotel. It seems to mainly cater to visiting academics (Vic has a good university with a huge medical center next door), school groups, and - yes - tourists. So while the rooms are a little basic, and the parking lot is crowded sometimes, it is a uniquely appealing facility. The room rates are quite good (at least off-season) and the breakfast at the little cafeteria was excellent. The staff were conversant in a variety of languages (inc. English), and attended well to all inquiries that I made. Location is perfect for a walk through the historic center of Vic (quite a nice small Catalonian city, and just as historic as any other). There is a childrens school on site, and an equestrian center out back (Some manure smell? what did you expect with horses next door?). The place contains a historic library with works from the original Seminarians, conference rooms (of course) and contemplative courtyards, as you would expect. The architecture is interesting, landscaping good, and the buildings are very historic. Come with the proper attitude and it is a great choice. Want all the "extras" that are lacking here? Get thee to a Tourist Hotel instead.
