Friendly staff at reception with good evening meal selection if you dont want to walk to local restaurants. We went on a twenty minute walk to the local 'Buffalo Grill'. However, on return to the hotel bar we observed the food at the hotel appeared to be generous in portions and a number of satisfied customers dining-in. The bar provided a good selection of alcohol/non-alcohol drinks. Our en-suite twin-room was in the motel-type accomodation, which was adequate for a one-night stay but was quite small with limited space to store our clothes and luggage. However, if you are returning to Calais for the ferry/Eurotunnel, this motel is around just a hundred miles away via a straightforward run on the motorway. The off-road motel car park had plenty of spaces and a self-serve petrol station was across the road thirty yards awy.

A typical motel affair, though not up to the standard you would expect. The actual building is run down and in some cases (electrical), it is dangerous. The place is generally in a poor state - see photos. To make matters worse, the Staff are either very overworked or just plain rude. We we ignored for an hour in the restaurant area and ended up leaving and finding an alternative food and drink venue. Sum up - AVOID

I recently attended this hotel in respect of a Regimental Association Weekend. My stay was for four nights under the guise of a Bed and Breakfast occupation. I was part of a party of approximately 36 persons of both genders and assortment of ages. Whilst the accommodation was reasonably comfortable, I found it somewhat claustrophobic with sparce furniture and minimal number of facilities available. It became apparent during the booking in progress that this, a coach party appeared to be unchartered territory for the hotel. The party arrived at approximately 1800 hours on a Thursday evening and understandably sought some form of refreshments which was not an unreasonable request given that we had been travelling all day. Initially we were told that the kitchen and bar was closed and would not open that evening. Eventually after a degree of pressure by our group they relented and availed their kitchen/bar facilities to us. From here on in, in my opinion our group was far from welcome at the hotel, almost a nuisance. In respect of breakfast this consisted of continental menu as well as their own version of an 'English' cooked breakfast. Whilst this was a welcome addition the standard of food was poor in preparation as well as that of presentation. It consisted of streaky bacon, some form of sausage and scrambled eggs which I can only guess that the 'eggs' were of a powder formular, all of it was tepid at best. When asked for assistance in such matters regarding the food the staff's response was far from helpful, they were almost reluctant to assist but did comply as they accepted it was their job, they certainly did not go the extra mile. The hotel is listed as a 3 Star, I personally would give it 2 at best. Suffice to say I would not recommend this hotel and I will not be staying here again.

I travel for work playing music, so most of our year is spent in hotels. One of the things that I have missed for the last few years is the level of hospitality and serene settings of most of our accommodations in Europe. Kyriad hotel was no exception. Our hosts made us feel welcomed, and greeted us with kindness. The entire property is surrounded by a myriad of flowers and shrubs, all very well cared for, making for a beautiful morning in their outdoor lounging/breakfast area. Before leaving, our hosts found pictures of our band, and requested autographs from all of us. They made us feel like Led Zeppelin, but we are just a small band from New Orleans.
