We stopped in for some food on our way back to Cumbria. What a find. Delicious food, great service, and fresh, clean surroundings. The mac and cheese were so tasty, as was the haggis and chicken roast. Reasonable prices too.Thank you, we'll return.

Above all we were impressed with the friendliness and efficiency of the staff, thank you. Bike storage was good, dinner and breakfast were delightful. Rooms are good enough with all usual facilities. Room 5, avoid this, it has incredibly bright fire safety ceiling device that lights the room at night like a prison camp searchlight. I like a dark room as this was a shame. Rear beer garden is a nice suntrap. I'd definitely stay here again.

Top marks to Steve and his team for feeding a bunch of greedy (sorry, hungry) cyclists this weekend. Our party of 15 ate here for two consecutive nights and thoroughly enjoyed the food, and the banter. The Cullen Skink and vegan curry were particular highlights, as were the onion rings made from the prize-winning onion!

Spur of the moment decision, we decided to go to ‘pastures new’ for a night. Great decision, very welcoming, clean and newly refurbished. Bar meal was ‘pub grub’ and very good. Hubby loved the beer. Breakfast was big and varied and good, but don’t expect a ‘full Scottish’. We will return to do more walking and exploring and ‘phone to book’.

Would thoroughly recommend this lovely cosy friendly hotel. Ideally located in the centre of Newcastleton for our trip to the Scottish Borders and Kielder. Stunning scenery nearby. Rooms have recently been refurbished to a high standard. Free wifi. Lovely and clean, comfortable bed, and peaceful for an undisturbed sleep. Lovely shower and decor. Bar staff and owner very helpful and friendly and we had a great service. Evening meal was lovely, home cooked, ample portions , particularly enjoyed the Cullen skink soup, garlic mushrooms and home made apple crumble as well as tasty main courses of baked haddock and Cajun chicken. A very good continental breakfast was served, with a range of cereal, yoghurt, fresh fruit, variety of cheeses and meats, toast and fresh juice and lovely fresh coffee. Plenty to fuel up before a day’s cycling and walking. Would happily return. Thank you Steve and team!

absolutely 1st class service from Steve and the whole team, a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and the food was amazing and well presented. The beer from the local brewery is definitely a hit.Definetly value for money and we will definitely return for more,
