My partner and I have been visiting Hotel for five delightful years, and it's safe to say that this place has become our second home. Each time we arrive, we are greeted with warm smiles from the lovely owners, Nina and Andrej, making us feel incredibly welcome. The location of the hotel is truly something out of a fairytale - nestled on the enchanting river island Kostanjevica in the breathtaking Dolenjska region. Housed in an old farmhouse, the preservation and renovation of the property have created an atmosphere of luxury while retaining its authentic charm. The rooms are a haven of comfort, offering everything one could need during their stay. We especially adore the two rooms with private balconies, providing stunning views of the surroundings. It's a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the island. Now, let me rave about the highlight of our stay - breakfast! Andrej personally curates every item, and it's evident that a lot of thought and care go into its preparation. The breakfast is not just a meal; it's an experience! Andrej's dedication to serving only the best shines through in every bite. And that's not all; evenings at the hotel are a delightful affair thanks to Andrej and Nina. Andrej's knowledge of Slovenian wines is remarkable, and he enthusiastically introduces guests to a variety of delectable options. The homemade cold cuts are simply divine and pair perfectly with the wines. Every time we have the opportunity to reserve a stay at this wonderful establishment, we do so without hesitation. The overall experience, the warm hospitality of the owners, and the unforgettable meals make each visit a cherished memory. We stayed at Hotel Castanea for a few days during the warmest time of the year, and we can fully attest that the air-condition works even under such circumstances. It was a wonderful trip, relaxing and fun. And the hotel facilities were perfect, the breakfast was locally sourced and delicious and the service was truly impeccable.
