Sassafras Springs

Beautiful setting and views, great walks on the property, cute small cottage with a wood heater, comfy bed and pillows, and electric blankets yeah! had all the basics for cooking. Close to Mount Field national park which is really why you stay and visit. Made use and offer of the fresh eggs from his chickens and some veggies from his garden. We stayed in Pearly cottage and loved it, a farm stay as it should be done.

Needing a break I came here for 10 days. Peace and quiet with beautiful views. Grant and Marieke were wonderful. I stayed at the hop pickers and loved it. Yes there is wildlife around so drive carefully and you will need to pick up groceries before you get there. If you want a restful night or 2 this is wonderful.

I loved this place, so much so that I stayed an extra night after my friend left. It is so still, just bird sounds. I did my meditation and yoga at the yoga platform on top of the hill. What a view! And what a sunrise! This place would be great for a yoga or meditation retreat. Also great views from every window in our cottage. The cottage was so quirky and had everything we needed. Heating, cosy beds and fluffy doonas. I used some of the port provided to make plumb/apple/rhubarb compote, all picked fresh from the garden. Yum. There are so many creative buildings around to explore. If I'd be a child I would have loved the little tea house. So cute. And a little cottage to do art work if you wish. And a camp kitchen for BBQ. And a beautiful bush walk, and platypus in a small dam. Oh and plus: excellent WIFI. And lovely caretakers. I will be back.

Extremely good service and very nice staff. Well equipped cottage in a beautiful area with an enormous view. Even for colder nights enough facilities to get it warm in the cottage (heating blankets, wood stove etc.). We also enjoyed the more than one hour long onsite walks.

Sassafras Springs is a beautiful place to stay to unwind with its idyllic countryside views, a wonderful forest loop track to explore and comfy cottages (we stayed in Raspberry). A highlight is being able to supplement meals with produce from the fruit and veggie patch (the granny smith’s were delicious) and eggs freshly laid by the friendly chickens. Grant was helpful with suggestions of what to enjoy in the area. We went to Mt Field one day but were more than content to enjoy the forest walk on the property and relaxing by the fire the rest of the time. We hope to stay again!

Beautiful peaceful location set in farmland with own nature walks. Close to Mt Field National Park. Self contained home with wood fire. Good sheets bed etc. Great hot water pressure in shower. Welcoming host who provided unexpected treats.
