Staff really friendly, room very clean, easy checking and checkout , I loved!!!

I arrived in town and checked in between 1:30 and 2 and left immediately for our family get-together. Returning to the hotel at midnight after a long, but enjoyable day, I was told that the hotel's pipes had burst and that their clients were being moved to the hotel next door. I was also told that they had called everyone to inform them of the problem, that I would be responsible for paying the other hotel, and that Holiday Inn would refund the amount paid by me to Holiday Inn on the next day. Unfortunately, I had not received a call and the hotel next door was full. My daughter and I couldn't find a room anywhere and ended up driving home around 1am on the icy and unsafe highway when both my daughter and I were tired and sleepy. We arrived home at 3am. Holiday Inn's manager claims that a refund was made to **********, but it has not been posted to my account. The manager said that the hotel owes no further compensation because what happened was beyond their control. It also was beyond my control, and because of my inconvenience, I feel that the hotel could extend some type of gesture to show that they care that we suffered extreme inconvenience, too. I am 75-years-old, and their hardship and rudeness has taken a toll on me. The rude manager had earlier had me hold on while she talked to her manager. When I asked to speak to him, she repeatedly refused, saying that she had conveyed my messages to him and that he was busy with the people doing repairs. She hung up on me twice.

It seemed newly renovated and that was very nice. Quiet and spacious room and bathroom. Loved the breakfast but had hoped they served the same meal as I had the first day. Would have been nice if they had actually fixed the belt on the pancake machine at night, which was awesome. The light in the entry didn't work and others had pushed all the USB ports into the outlet making them unusable, but I did find a couple that worked. Would be nice to have another TV over by the sofa so if one person chose to stay awake and watch it they could without disturbing the one sleeping.

Great Experience, friendly staff, clean and convenient bkfast. Elmira and all the staff were very friendly. They made our stay welcomed.

The staff seemed very nice, but it is clear they don't have as much training as they should have. My bathroom had mildew along the shower seams, the vent had not been dusted in months if not a year. The shower door wouldn't stay closed no matter what. And when we went to the pool, there were people standing outside smoking ********* and the smoke was drifting over the pool area where multiple young children were swimming. When I asked nicely if they would just change sides so the smoke would carry away from us, they ignored me. I called the hotel front desk and the girl seemed really unsure how to handle it, but said she would send someone to ask them to move. After 10 minutes, they finished their smoke and went back in. About 3 minutes after THAT someone came out, glanced around and I said, they already left, the employee didn't say a word, just went back inside. On Saturday night when I returned there were 7-8 Sheriff's cars in the drive, and when we got off the elevator to return to our room, there were about 10 of them in the hall that we had to go through to get to our room. I asked a manager to call me, and he still hasn't. I won't return there.

With the price you pay you should at least get complementary water in your rooms. Also need to communicate better with guests, I was waiting over 5 minutes for the elevator before I was finally told it was being cleaned... should have put a note or something to let guests know, also AC was very noisy.

Air conditioning did not work and the next room smelled like smoke. We just requested for a refund and went to Hyatt Place.
