My husband and I have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the years because we have a family reunion in the area every year. Positives: smallish hotel, good buffet breakfast. Negatives: In the 2 days and nights that we stayed there, we never saw anyone working the front desk (“we have stepped away “). They left an envelope with the key and the bill on the desk, and we checked ourselves in. We also checked ourselves out by dropping the key in a box on the desk. They say they have a wine and cheese hour at 4:00, but no one was there to serve it, and there was nothing set out for the guests. Some rooms are good, some are not. So you have to know about them beforehand. We stayed in 203, which was a queen room at the end of the hall. Very nice, actually. Room 206 had a very dark bathroom area when we stayed there a few years ago. Breakfast was good, but I only saw people working when I needed something (bowls for fruit) and went to the kitchen to ask. So all in all, there was no sense of hospitality this time AT ALL. Who runs this place? I have no idea. Rooms were clean, but there is no maid service unless you ask for a refresh. Furnishings are shaker style in the rooms, and a hodgepodge of everything in the living/lobby area and in the hallways. The carpet up the stairs is in desperate need of a replacement. And it’s not a cheap hotel, even though breakfast is included. For 2 nights, we spent over $450. I think we might look at other places next year, like in Mt. Shasta. McCloud is losing its charm in general, sorry to say.
