Our stay here was like staying at a boutique hotel. It was so unique and felt completely private. Great in-room amenities and great bed and bedding. The location is great, but as we did you will probably need a taxi from the train station. If you can arrive at Matera Sud, it would be more convenient. Victor from the hotel arranged a taxi for us upon arrival which worked out great. This place offers great customer service and a fabulous breakfast. Can’t recommend it enough.

Beautiful property. Meticulously maintained. Homemade Italian breakfast included. Easy to walk everywhere within the Sassi. Room was beautiful and spacious. A huge call out and special recognition to Victor who checked us in & gave us a 40 minute history lesson about Matera. Parking is about a 10 minute walk away in a safe clean parking garage & the hotel also has shuttle service for 15 euros. We had a family emergency and had to return to the US and Victor went above and beyond helping us communicate with the rental car company to return our car early. He was helpful and compassionate and will not be forgotten.

I must say, I was not sure what the property would be like from online, however from the very first communication..to the check-in all the way to check out I was blown away. Victor at the reception was first class, kind, professional and extremely helpful. He really set the mood and made the experience what it was! For every concern we had, Victor was available and he was so quick to offer solutions to our needs. If you want to be treated like a VIP this is the place to go! I must also say the breakfast was very delicious and was nicely presented!

The property is well placed to explore Matera. Viktor, the manager, made us feel very welcome from the minute we arrived. He took some time with us to explain many of the places to visit during our short stay and this very helpful. Breakfast was outstanding and a great start to each day, especially when we were able to eat 'al fresco' on the terrace outside reception. Viktor was available throughout our stay to offer any help or advice we required.

My mother and I stayed 3 nights and enjoyed our visit so much. Matera is so interesting and it was a delight to get to stay in this beautiful cave hotel. Breakfast was delightful to sit on the patio, the beds were comfortable and the service was great. Victor was able to make many recommendations and was so helpful as traveling with my elderly mother did require extra attention. I highly recommend that you choose this hotel if you are visiting Matera.

Modernized cave rooms on a delightful street surrounded by historical buildings. Excellent breakfast, helpful staff. Nice restaurants nearby. Parking is challenging.
