Hotel Domaine des Etangs, Auberge Resorts Collection

This is one of the most amazing places we have ever stayed! It takes a little bit of effort to get there, but it was worth it! The property is so enormous, and there are not many rooms, so you feel like you are the only ones there sometimes, which was wonderful! We took part in many of the activities and they were all wonderful! Fishing was so much fun, the spa is gorgeous, and even the little zipline park nearby is really fun for kids and adults! The food is so great, all meals and the staff is so friendly and warm. The messaging service on property makes it very easy to get requests fulfilled and they were always promptly taken care of. Could not recommend this property any more!

First things first: I don’t know if I just got incredibly lucky… or if they’re always this good. But everything and I mean everything was perfect. The setting? Unreal. It’s true luxury, but without the show-off energy. Calm, grounded, beautiful. There’s just one restaurant, and honestly, that’s all they need because the food is both delicious and beautifully plated. The rooms? Whether you’re in a suite or one of the métairies (converted farmhouses, but make it chic) everything is refined, cozy, and quietly stunning. But what completely won me over? The service. That rare mix of warmth, kindness, and absolute professionalism. You feel like a guest, not a client. They get it. It’s in their DNA. And I’ve done my fair share of luxury hotels but this one stands out because they’re not just guest-friendly. They’re kid-friendly and pet-friendly too. All without compromising on elegance. That balance? Hard to find.

Domaine des Etangs is a beautiful property – it has a real understated elegance and charm that suited us perfectly. We made full use of all it has to offer - from the pool and spa to the giant chess board in the kids playground. We had wonderful walks around the property and the restaurant was perfect

We've stayed at many lovely hotels around the world and this one is definitely among the best. We stayed in the main castle, which was so tastefully decorated. The mix of an antique space and traditional touches with modern fixtures and furnishings is inspiring; similarly, the grounds mix wild/ natural spaces with 7 stunning man-made ponds, manicured gardens, and contemporary sculptures. We brought our 27 year old daughter with us, but the hotel is also child-friendly, with sitting areas, play areas, and a sense of whimsy that young children would love (t-bar, fairy house, climbing net, chess board, game room, etc.). Developed not by a large corporation but by an owner, Domaine Des Etangs has heart, a unique style, and a true sense of place. The food was terrific and staff were attentive, warm, and seemed to love working there. There are many places in the world to see so we're rarely inclined to go back to a place, but this is a place to which we'd return for sure.

Domaine des Etangs is a wonderful place for relaxing, breathing and being immersed in a peaceful countryside yet surrounded with the presence of culture and art everywhere in the domaine. It's a place like no other. Close from Paris in TGV (Angoulême), you eat so well, all the products are cultivated locally and cooked with so much talent. Loved the Spa and the team makes you feel so special. I am looking forward to my next stay !

More than a fairytale! This hotel is more than a castle stay—it exceeded our expectations. We totally enjoyed it. We stayed at the castle’s cottage, where hundreds of cows were outside our room. It was superb! Breakfast was excellent, and the staff were attentive and precise.
